Last stop on by Corona mini beer tour today, right off the 15 freeway at Temescal Canyon, in an area with several stores including a mexican food restaraunt, roasted corn vendor, candy shop, and a breakfast diner, did not see the rest, went straight for the wine and cheese shop where the beer was located, also a deli inside here and a rather random setup but still pretty cool, lady said hello but did not offer help, not that I needed it anyways, place was pretty clean and organized, fridge full of macros on the north wall, then a buch of imports and microbrews, some standouts were 2006 Vertical Epic for six dollars, Malheur Dark Brut Reserve for twenety something bucks, Lindemans Gueuze lambic for six dollars, Stone Old Guardian for about five dollars, Gouden Carlos Grand Cru of the Emperor for twelve dollars, and most impressively the magnums sitting on top of the cooler, a three liter Stone 10th Anniversary was sixty, a super old looking Chimay Grand Reserve bottle with dust all over it was thirty and looked ancient, also some big Corsedonk and Duvel bottles, variouis glassware including Chimay goblets, Paulaner glasses, and a few different pints were five dollars a peice, sold all twelve ounce bottles in singles like everything else, did not even see a six or twelve pack now that I think of it, this place had some old buried treasures and I might be going back to grab that Chimay bottle some time soon, had lots of Stone shirts on sale above the beer section for about fifteen dollars as well, will stop again when driving by but probably would not make a special trip out there because most of the stuff is available at BevMos and La Bodega which are much closer to my apartment, cool little place worth checking out though

This is where it all started for me, as far as craft beer. I used to play a lot of golf in the area. Every time I would play Glen Ivy, I would drive past Tom's Farms. I finally stopped and bought some stuff from the Cheese and Wine shop. After a year or so of shopping at Tom's Farms I randomly went to check the beer section. At the time, I didn't know the quality of the beer I bought that day - Pliny and Redemption. Before this time, I didn't even like beer. I didn't particularly like either Pliny or Redemption, but it was so different than what I ever had before that I researched, and slowly fell in love with craft beer.

I don't know why, I but I really dig the atmosphere here. It's like Knotts Berry Farms in a way. They have live entertainment on the weekends, and rides for the kids including a miniature train ride.

The beer selection is not really on par with nice bottle shops, but they do carry enough quality one-offs that it might be worth a look-sie. After all, I did buy my first Pliny and Redemption here.

Cheers!

This place is highly advertised along the freeway, and to my surprise also carries a solid beer selection. Tom's Farm is a multi-building complex which houses furntiure, a fudge shop, a corn stand, and several others. Kind of like the Disneyland of SoCal farmer's markets. As for the beer, look for the "Cheese and Wine" building.

The beer section is small, but full of single bottles and occasional bombers, great for the person who wants a small taste of something. Despite this, there are no empty six-pack holders here; you'll need to ask the cashier for one or two. All the beer is kept refrigerated, though for how long some of it has been sitting on the shelf is a bit of a concern (update: concern no more, all my beers were in good condition for drinking, lemme bump up the quality score). Here, you will find a variety of beer, both good and mediocre, but mostly solid craft brews and imports (examples: Full Sail, Mexicali, Samuel Smith's, SLO Brewing, Malheur, Stone, Unibroue, Kona, multiple Sierra Nevada brews, Chimay).

At checkout, the cashier kept loosing track of the prices and bottles I purchased, but in her defense, I picked up 10 different bottles with different pricetags. She ended up counting 11 bottles into the price, so she offered to allow me to get another single bottle and call it even. So I ended up getting 11 bottles during my purchase.

With the variety of foods and arts offered at Tom's Farm, it is worth a stop for all ages. Having good beer sold on its premises makes it icing on the cake.

Tom's Farm is a place where you just don't expect to find the selection that there is.

Born & raised in Corona, I've seen the Barnes family grow this place from the back of a flatbed truck to the small circus it is now. The crowds on the weekends, especially during the summer months can be a little off-putting, but you can find some pretty good brews to pair with a pizza or sub to consume while sitting out by the pond, just head into the Wine & Cheese Shop.

On a recent visit, I was able to pick up Stone Verticle 06.06.06 for a "whopping" $5.49. I almost laughed when a young worker informed me that, "Those were the old ones that've been there for a while." and that they have the new ones. ...Yes, honey. I know.

Their stock of "good" beer is temperature controlled and seems to consist primarily of Belgian & bombers. Its not a huge selection like you're going to find at BevMo, but like I said, its somewhat unexpected to find it here.

You never know what you might find at this place. There could be a hard to find Belgian right around the corner, so look close...

This place is kind of an all purpose food & beverage stop. They have a lot of pretty decent food options- Mexican, pizza, burgers, or a create your own meats/olives/cheese/beer/wine kind of thing. The produce/nuts/candy/etc sets are great. This is however a BEER place review, so let's talk beer. They have at least 80 or so different bottled beers (12oz, 22oz, & even a few 750s). The standard macro & favorite imports are present, but there is definitely a few beers for the connoisseur to walk away with as well. Not to shabby of an import selection, and a nice micro set as well. Grab some fresh bread, and pair some good cheese with some even better beer. Got to love that. Weekends can be a bit busy, friendly biker crowds seem to like to hang out, especially for live music. Carrying a brew cleverly disguised in a small brown bag seems to be the norm while walking around...something I can get behind. All & all, if you need some decent beer & snacks, and find yourself in the area, it is a worthwhile stop.

Tom's Farms is a local icon, but not as a beer store. It started in the 1970's as a very typical rural farm stand for vegetables, and such, and has grown since to include a bunch of acres with several restaurants, fruits/vegetables/sweets/candy, country-style furniture store, kid's play area (pony rides, etc.), bird farm, duck pond with stage for bands to play, etc. On the weekends, this is a local spot for shopping, bikers to rendevous, hanging out, etc. Kinda fun, actually. Located at Temescal Canyon Road on the I-15 just south of Corona (if you see it from the freeway, you missed the exit).

One of the numerous buildings in the complex labelled "Wine" is a wine/cheese/salami/bread bakery/beer and other drinks spot. A very full building, very busy, very narrow aisles, very claustophobic on a summer Saturday afternoon. If this had an "atmosphere" rating, it would be great for the surrounding grounds, and terrible for this building.

But onto the beer. In the far back (left-hand side) corner, an open refrigerated case holds a pretty nice selection. In a quick count, I counted about 90 beers total, most of them interesting imports, some US craft, and the expected representation of US/global industrial complex megabrews. A nice representation of German brews (Spaten, Allgauer, etc.), some of the major Belgians (Chimay, Stella, Hoegarden, the line of Lindemans lambics, including the gueuze- the only gueuze I've ever seen for sale in the Inland Empire), several Stone bombers, Pyramid, several northern California craft brews, etc.

It appears that they have an on-premises license, as I saw a number of bikers walking around with paper bags and some folks at tables with wine & cheese laid out, so it's take out and drink-in. Could be fun- the band they had playing wasn't half bad.

Everything is refrigerated, but they had several winter beers in August, so be careful of freshness. Not bad if you want a barleywine during summer, though!

Not a place to drop everything and go right now, but if you are in the area, and want to do something different with or without the family, I think this is a pretty good option.

Note: their web site claims over 300 varieties of beer. They have a lot, but it's nowhere near 300.

PS, the fruits and vegetables are pretty good quality, and my wife likes their bread.
