Atmosphere is that of a gas station convenience store, since that's what it is. The selection is great though. Lots of choices from local to imports. Many of the better beers have tags with their Beer Advocate rating.

I didn't ask for any help but was offered assistance if needed and told that they have more beer in the back if there was anything I was looking for that I couldn't find. Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout (which I would have missed otherwise) was pointed out to me.

The only downside is that a number of bottles were a bit dusty and had probably been sitting around for a while. Some of the Stone beers (which have dates on them) were already beyond their best before dates so you need to be careful.

Sandwiches at the deli were pretty good too!

Driving by this store I would have never have thought they had the beer selection that they have. Thanks to this site I found out this mini-mart like store had a fantastic beer selection.

The beer is visible right when you walk in, and the selection takes up both sides of a small aisle. I ended up buying some De Dolle, and last five bottles of fresh Lunch in the area. I also saw some Fantome, Jollypumpkin, and many other Belgian and American brews.

This store is your typical convenience store so don't expect it to look pretty. Also don't expect to get a lot of help when it comes to picking out the right beer. Obviously someone who works here, or the owner appreciates good beer, but most of the people here are not going to know much.

Overall, this store is worth your while and really is a hidden gem here in Bangor. The prices are consistent with the other four major beer stores in the area, but don't expect to get awesome service here.

Look for the name Swett's preceeding the name listed here and you'll know you have the right place. Very deceiving (it is also a gas and service station) that you'd find such a good selection inside. I found beers from BFM, Fantome, Jolly Pumpkin, Stillwater Artisanal (recent arrival), Southern Tier, local favs like Allagash and Maine Brewing Co, DFH, and west coast stuff like Rogue and Stone... just as an example of the fine selection. Plenty of other Maine, domestic, and imported beers too. The second time I went I spoke with a guy who was helpful but don't expect someone there all the time who knows the inventory well. Selection compares well to some of the better places down-state even within a limited amount of shelf space. Top notch in the Bangor area!

The selection is wonderfull, it is hard to believe that they can have such a nice assortment of beers in a small gas station/deli. Decent selection of Maine breweries and from breweries all over the states.

I head to Bangor frequently for getaways, and my trip always includes a couple of stops here so I can decide what to bring back when we go home to Canada. The staff is always eager to suggest beer for me to try and help carry my selections to the car.

The prices seem reasonable, you can even split six packs at no extra cost.

Hogan Road Deli and Convenience is an awesome place to get your next beer to do a tasting.

Their quality is somewhat good. It worries me a little that most of the beer is sitting out at room temperature instead of in the fridge but not so much that i wouldn't buy it. What's a little more scary is the green bottles on the top shelf that are getting direct sunlight!

Service is pretty much non-existent. But they do run tastings every so often with representatives from breweries or distributors. Which, if you ask me, is a little weird for a gas station/auto repair shop/deli. The owner loves beer but doesn't expect his workers to know the selection or anything like a alcohol store.

The selection is immaculate for Bangor. Simply THE BEST in terms of selection in the area. Hands down, no ifs, ands, or buts. The owner really knows his stuff and gets all the goodies. You will not be disappointed there and will always find something new to buy and drink. He has one side for American craft brew and the other for foreign beers. He has recently added a mini-fridge for seasonals which is sweet. And if there's anything you want that he doesn't have, he can get it for you. Even got a 22oz from the Trappist monastery Achel which is insanely hard to find.

Price is what you would expect to pay for what you get. So i think it's pretty reasonable although if you're not familiar with craft brew $10 for a 4-pack of DFH 90min looks pricey.

Still, i would recommend this place to any craft beer enthusiast.

Fairly convenient location in Bangor, just off I-95, about 1/2 mile walking distance from the Courtyard by Marriott. For a gas station, there were some good quality beers and a pretty good selection. I saw 120 minute, some good allagash beers, some good weyerbacher beers, a few Belgians, and a handful of other local beers. Mixing six-packs is an option, which is nice. The majority of their selection was on shelves, but they had a section of their cooler dedicated for crafts. Service was what one would expect from a gas station, although I did have a request and they took the time to go in the back to look for me. I think the wine and cheese shop has a better selection, but this place is nice.

It's a freaking CITGO!!! But they have such a wide variety of beer. When I saw this on the list of places to go in Bangor, I thought it was some kind of joke, but once I go inside, I see stuff that NO other place in the area has, absolutely stunned me that I ended up with a bill for $130 by the time I left.

They have Rogue products (which I have a difficult time finding in this area), they had the big bottles of Samichlaus (not just the little ones), good Flying Dog selection, the usual assortment of Belgians, virtually all the Maine brews commonly available (as well as a couple others that are retired and unlikely to find elsewhere), and even a bottle of Utopias 2007 left (and possibly even more bottles out back says the guy at the counter).

I was tempted to buy the Utopias as all other places in the area are wiped clean by now, but I'm not desperate to try it at $200, haha. So someone else reading this, go get it while you can!

I'll certainly be visiting this place again, but not until I recover from the last wallet hit even though their prices were pretty much the same as most places.
