Pours a deep amber to brown color with a small off white head. In the aroma, fig and raisin, and a hint of alcohol. In the taste, dark fruits, especially fig and it is breathing some heat. A smooth and medium to bigger bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry dark fruit in the aftertaste. Nice representation of style. I enjoyed this one.

A- dark mahogany and molasses type of color. quite opaque and poor head.

S- plum, fig and brown sugar dominate the nose. sour grape malt on the back end.

F- plum and fig take over the taste but then there is brown sugar and caramel malts with a sour grape flavor.

M- grain and fig flavors coat the inside of the mouth. heavy bodied beer.

O- good quad...the appearance was pretty bland but everything else decent.

Appears a dark chestnut brown with a fluffy, beige head that slowly fades into a gentle collar. Speckled bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of brown sugar, figs, dark fruit, black grapes, plums, sweet cream, and spicy black pepper.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a blast of Graham crackers coming forward in the flavors, along with plum preserve sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, chewy, sticky, with a semi-dry finish.

Had this on tap at the Harrisburg brew pub.

A - Dark ruby red/brown, murky, fine bubbled one-finger head, little carbonation streams, moderate head retention, not much lacing to speak of

S - Malty sweet, lightly sweet cheery and other dark fruits

T - Picking up some root beer, sweet chocolate and banana flavors. Finishes dry like a merlot.

M - Medium, some alcohol warmth

O - This is an excellent beer in my opinion. The flavor profile is very complex and tastes refined and developed, almost like its been napping for a year to mellow out. The fruit and chocolate notes are reminiscent of a banana sundae with a cherry on top. The alcohol is not nearly as present as I'd expect. This is a mature beer.

Pours a dark amber-red color with one finger of eggshell fluffy head.

The scent is of sweet fruit, sweet sugars and noticeable alcohol.

The taste is of dark fruit, sweet belgian sugar, alcohol, and notes of spice.

Full bodied, smooth and a littly creamy, low to moderate carbonation.

This was a good Quad, very nice flavor and very easy to drink.

I tasted this on tap at Appalachian Brewing Company's brewpub on Cameron St. Served chilled and allowed to warm slightly in a goblet.

A deep burgundy with a beige head the lasts a while but drops to a ring after a short period, no lace sticks. The smell is very toffee and cocoa oriented with light smoke and subtle meaty accent as a result with spice elements and moderate fusel alcohol. The feel on entry is sweet/warming with a subtle spice texture and very dry finish with substantial amount of alcohol w/ a nice toasted tinge in the finish.

The taste is good - it has a flavor which is earthy and roasted with nice smoothness from some toffee and sweet malt flavors. As it begins to warm slight mineral and herbal character develops with mild chalk in the middle and light hint of grainy husky taste w/ the smoke hinted at slightly among stone fruit flavro w/ mild peppery notes in the finish. I enjoyed this overall, like the dubbel but more alcoholic it improves in some areas on that base, but also is hindered by the high abv which comes out a bit in the flavor. The sweetness level is also high, but it is worth a try I would say it has a smidge more flavor than the dubbel and better feel.

Served at the Harrisburg location into a short type of goblet. This brew appears a clear, dark ruby brown color with a finger of creamy white froth that hold strong across the top of the brew. Quite an attractive looking offering all together. A patchy amount of lacework clings to the glass with every sip.

The aroma of this brew includes candied fruits, bubblegum notes predominantly and a bit of spicy clove indications. As it warms the alcohol comes out a bit to make the smell come across a bit medicinal.

The taste is lightly fusel with alcohol, clove and spices. Dark sugary malt provides quite a bit of sweetness a little bit like brown sugar and candied sugars. A modest amount of herbal bitterness counters the sweetness of this offering. It is spicy and lingers in the mouth with a mix of both medicinal and herbal flavors. All together my impression is this brew tastes pretty much like a quad that is a bit young and could really benefit from a bit of aging to really come together and be something a bit more enjoyable.

It is medium bodied that at times is perceived to be a bit watery. A decent level of carbonation makes this brew enjoyable but not something I would return to regularly. The abv is not hidden all that well, it finishes dry with an herbal aspect that is a bit misplaced.
