Served as a sample at the Penn Festival. The color was a dark gold, with good head. The smell was a sweet malt. The taste was fairly malty. The mouthfeel was fairly smooth, but with a bit of noticable alcohol. For drinkability, I think this is one I could have a couple of.

I admit I had never heard of the Appalachian Brewery before I went to the Festival, but Aaron recommended the Maibock to me, and I certainly was not disappointed. This is one of many I'd like to see out in the western part of the state.

Poured a deep amber color with medium head that seemed to stick to the glass well, aroma was sweet and somewhat fruity.Nice taste of sweet caramel hits the taste buds first ,but some fruitiness lingers in the finish.I really liked this one seemed real easy to drink for the style and I liked the fruitiness in there.Nice version of the style and will get again if I get the chance.

On tap @ ABC Harrisburg on 5/45/09. Served in an oversized mug.

Pours a crystal clear coppper that is topped with a thin brite-white head. Retains with a somewhat thinner look, coating the sides of the glass with some pretty sizable lace. The aroma is very floral and citric smelling, with a LOT of syrupy malt sweetness behind it. Pretty standard Maibock nose here.

The taste is very similar, with a good bit of thickishly sweet caramel and bready malts. A silky current of citrus mixes in, as does some firm and lightly spicy hop bitterness that pulls up the back. Finishes with a lingering mix of sweetness and hops. The overall profile is very sweet but I wouldn't quite call it cloying. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a firm and prickly carbonation to it, which keeps this lively feeling despite the alcohol beef in the body.

Overall pretty solid Maibock here. Maybe a touch too sweet in the taste but both the body and drinkibility of this were very good considering that the ABV was pushing the higher end for the style. ABC has done this one right.

A: pours a clear copper into an American shaker with a thin skim of slightly of white head.

S: sweet light malt, caramel and biscuit and a tad fruity.

T: biscuits, orange breakfast rolls. Sweet, toffee and carmel with some pine and orange citrus.

MF: refreshing, sweet and a medium body. Not very effervescent.

O: good maibock, but I wouldn't pass over a 12 of Glissade for a growler of this.

This is a tumbler glass served on-tap at ABC in Harrisburg, PA. The bock is cold.

Appearance: The bock has a nice soft golden color to it. There is no haze and this pouring lacks any semblance of head.

Smell: The bock has a nice sweet honey-esque aroma to it. There is little hop kick, but the sweetness of the biscuity malt is enough.

Taste: The malts really take over in this ale. They give the beer a sweetness that one would not expect (as too many malts can kick up the abv). The hop flavors are very hidden, allowing the malts to shine.

Mouthfeel: The malty sweetness can't be beat.

Drinkability: Moderate abv and good taste, this is a great creation from ABC.

A: The beer is slightly hazy golden yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that gradually died down, leaving lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of bready malts and grassy/herbal hops are present in the nose.
T: Much like the smell, the taste has flavors of grassy and herbal hops along with underlying notes of bready malts; a faint amount of alcohol is also perceptible. The hops contribute a slight amount of bitterness, but mostly negate any traces of malty sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. Ever so slight bits of warming from the alcohol are perceptible.
O: I thought this beer was relatively easy to drink compared to other beers in the style because it was lighter in body and hid its alcohol very well. This would make for a good beer to drink outside on a mild springtime day as the alcohol will warm you up a bit.

On tap at ABC in Harrisburg

Pours a medium golden color with a fluffy white head that maintains. Nice lacing on the glass.

Aroma of malt and fruity yeast with a hint of hops. Smells delicious.

Tastes a bit sweet and malty upftont followed by a great fruity / bready yeast flavor. Finishes fairly clean with a nice hop flavor. Well balanced.

Good body for the style.

Super easy to drink considering the ABV. This is one of the best I've had from ABC.

A: Pours a light amber color with some thin head that leaves some thin lacing.

S: It has kind of a fruity scent, mostly melons and/or honeydew.

T: The taste is slightly fruity, less than what I expected from the smell thought. Also some yeast flavor, spices and a strong alcohol taste at the finish.

M: Kind of a dry/rough mouthfeel with lots of carbonation.

D: Fairly easy drinker, even with the high ABV. All around pretty good beer, although I think I had higher expectations of this.

This arrived with a thin head that quickly reduced to wispiness. It was a beautiful bright golden yellow color with a very malty nose. It had a somewhat hot mouthfeel. There was a nice malty sweetness in the mouth and the finish was both sweet and hot, almost simultaneously. This is a really huge beer, capable of laying you out if you are not careful. I think that I may have gotten overwhelmed by it all, since it was the last one that I had on a full day of drinking beer. I will revisit this one.

Stopped by Appalachian Brewing Co. While on a business trip to see a vendor in Harrisburg, PA. Excellent beer, excellent service, need I say more? I love to try local beers while I'm traveling. Awesome place, will definitely visit again next time I'm in town. Food isn't so bad as we
ll.

22 oz. bomber that I poured into a small tulip style glass several times. Liquid comes out a golden orange color, glows extra orange when held up to the light. Nice frothy white head with mostly small bubbles. Decent lacing to this beer too.

Smell is really good. Smells of honey and maybe some weak caramel. There's also a slight earthy and floral hope aroma that is quite pleasant. Almost smells a little like a bitter while maintaining a solid classic Maibock aroma.

Taste is also very good, on par with the smell. Starts with some nice caramel sweetness. Very bready with hints of honey. There's also some grassy hop flavors to help balance it at the end. Still don't be fooled, the strong malt backbone makes this beer great, and it is great, not just good in my opinion.

Mouthfeel is good, sort of a heavy medium body. Very smooth and maintains a nice carbonation level. Really well balanced throughout, nice sweet start with a sharp clean finish. Very drinkable, anybody who likes this style could easily polish off a bomber by themselves. GOod beer, feel lucky to have been able to get a nice bottle.
