I enjoyed my Sunday lunch visit to ABC. I think it would have been better to go at a busier time for atmosphere, but it wouldn't have changed the other elements of the visit. It is a stunning looking warehouse that has the brewery behind windows to the right. It is a huge place with a good sized bar with about five tvs. The upstairs sports pub is closed on Sunday, but is supposed to have lots of tvs, pool, and other games. They also have live entertainment many nights in the sports pub, and some nights in the downstairs bar.

I was a little disappointed in the beer and in the selection for sure. They had seven beers on tap, including the monthly special. The beers were okay but there were no big tasting beers. The only one with a high alcohol content, they limited to a five-ounce pour due to the 11 percent alcohol level. Since I wasn't driving, that was a downer. It was their most interesting beer, a cask-conditioned Broad Street Barley Wine, which is considerably stronger in this rendition than the one reviewed here.

The other beers were a wheat, a lager, a pale ale, a scottish ale, a stout, and a red ale. The only one that was off was the Water Gap Wheat. It really didn't taste like a Wheat. The others were all okay.

The food was the high point of the visit. Excellent menu with Irish specials for St. Patty's Day. There is a wide variety of food and everything that we had was well prepared. I would go back to ABC, but only 45 minutes north is the Selins Grove Brewery. Selins Grove's beers are far superior.

Highly recommend touring this brewery because you get a one on one with the master brewer. It's a more friendly and intimate experience than some of the larger breweries.

Had dinner here after a visit to Hersheypark. It's a really neat space. Great old building, really high ceilings, huge windows overlooking brewing equipment.

Beer was good. I tried two seasonal/special brews. The saison was tasty. Nice floral (lavender?) character. Could use more funk. Good beer selection overall, with the standards plus the seasonals (there were about 5 of these). They also have their own sodas.

Food was better than expected. It's simple pub food done well. My turkey burger was tasty.
Service was very good. Our waiter didn't write down anything, and got the order 100% correct even though two of us made changes/substitutions.

Also, if you're in Harrisburg, make sure to check out the inside of the state capitol. The supreme court room is astounding. You have to be on a tour (free) to see it.

It's just okay. The beer selections are fairly standard and not very exciting. I'm an IPA guy and their Hoppy Trails is very disappointing, just not much to it. Service seems to run hot and cold from visit to visit. This is a good idea that seems to be more interested in expanding the franchise than concentrating on the product.

Appalachian does just about everything right. The friendly bartenders are great about giving samples, and the beer selection is outstanding. We always receive excellent service when we eat there and the food had always been great. I love the Abbey Bar and the fact that they hold concerts there makes this place stand out. There are plenty of beer choices and nice souvenir offerings for those interested in taking home glasses, tap handles or stickers. Over all, Appalachian seems to really have all of their duck in a row.
