Mel Dorado - 4.99% ABV

On Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad – Standard pint glass
Notes taken from 10/12/13

An American Sessions Pale Ale brewed with El Dorado Hops in honor of Pizza Port Melanie one can safely assume.

A: Pours a burnished caramel amber color with near perfect clarity and a thick paper white frothy cap. Nice retention efforts given from the suds with loads of sticky lace that coat the glass all the way down the drink.

S: Smells of light bready pale malts with a delicate perfume like flora accent. I get some underpins of pine and tangerines as well. Overall nice and inviting with a good mix of hops and malt. Nothing crazily pungent.

T: Tastes has a firm bready malt base that is almost Pilsner like with that lightly toasted grain character. Nice hoppy presence of citrus, pine, and botanicals. There is a moderate amount of bitterness on the palate and no trace of alcohol. Finishes out with more of a grassy resin note. Very easy drinking stuff.

M: Very light and airy body. Smooth and frothy on the palate with a high amount of dryness on the finish. Slightly resinous.

D: A nice sessions Pale with good balance of malt and hops. I think I am might still on the fence with dem El Dorado hops. This is nice and refreshingly crushable…but not anything ground breaking.
