Received as an extra, canned on 2/5/14
A- pours a bright golden-yellow with slight haze, small creamy and bubbly white head that retains nicely, leaving some good lace behind
S- citrusy hop aromas up front, also picking up some floral & pine, underlying bready malt rounds it out. Quite hoppy aroma for a session
T- blend of citrus, tropical fruity and floral hops mesh with a clean malt bill that adds just a touch of sweetness, more fruity notes on the finish with some grassy flavor
M- medium body and medium spritzy carbonation lead to a big creamy mouthfeel and a smooth and crisp dry finish
O- pretty impressive that they've fit this much hop flavor into an under 5% abv beer. If this were readily available to me, it would be a great pick for a summer go-to. Well done

cool can art....
huge foamy. billowy head. very aromatic, of pine at first. then I get more cat urine smell. then, lots of cat urine smell. must be simcoe? taste is light and easy, easy to drink.
a little hazy. super light yellow. great looking brew on top, but not sure what to think of the color of the liquid below. not quite corona, but not enticing either. I give it an overall 3.75 because it's definitely not bud, miller or coors...
add: can date is 2/18/14 so maybe the age of the can and the fact it was purchased warm has something to do with the cat urine aroma developing??
add #2: sticker on can date is 1/20/14 ? ? ? ? how can that be? I think the sticker on the can is done by Total Wine.... how can it be BEFORE the can date??? either way, it may explain the less than expected rating....

16oz can dated 03/12/14 – FW Imperial Nonic Glass
Notes taken on 03/29/14
I guess I assumed this was the same Ponto Pale as in the pub???
A: Pale yellow-gold body with some really well conditioned clarity. Streaming bubbles are evident and rising up to a frothy paper white foam cap. Decent hang time too with some nice broken rings of lace running down the glass.
S: Fresh hop aromas abound from the can. Apricot with a lemony citrus kick trailed by some tropical fruit, herbals, grass, and pines. There are some distinct pale malts underneath there but it’s not coming through as sweetness necessarily. More doughy bread if you will. Regardless this one is more about the freshy fresh hops. Really nice nose to Ponto.
T: Vivid hops up front much like the nose with a mixture of citrus peel, mango, pine, lemon grass and other herbs. Mostly fruity with no spice or earth components and a very nominal malt character as to be expected. Just some dry crackery substance there and a minimal sweetness coming through. Packs quite bitter hop punch for such a small table brew. Still very nicely balanced in that nothing is done over the top. Falls off a bit early for me however most session brews tend to do so. In the end some very refreshing hoppy swill.
M: Super light and crisp from the carb action. Thin of course with a nice peppery bitterness across the palate and a dry resinous finish. Very clean all around.
D: Delivers as promised. This is one of the better session IPA’s available if you ask me. Just very clean and fresh with some bright hop flavors and a crisp snappy body.
I see many of these in my future endeavors…Crush on!

Serving: Can, poured into pint glass.
A: Shiny gold coloring that's mostly transparent. Head's thick at first, before quickly dissipating.
S: A nice mixture of wheat and hops, plus tropical fruit notes and some soapy undertones.
T: Bready wheat, plus a subtle dash of hop bitterness. Tropical notes still ring true here, though not nearly as strong as they do in the aroma.
M: Very carbonated, with a lasting bitterness on your tongue, too.
O: For a session IPA, Ponto packs a punch, delivering on flavor and aroma in a major way. Given the amount of session IPAs hitting the market right now, there's a lot to like about the different offerings. But if you're looking for the one that delivers the best hoppy IPA experience without the high ABV, this is probably it.
