On-tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad
Gold in color with a white head. The sage really comes through on this one. Nice balance of herb and malt aromas. Sweet bread on the nose with a touch of yeast and floral hops. Some spices such as clove and coriander are also there. The flavor isn’t quite as good as the nose to me. Sage is present, as is the sweet malt. A bit less complexity in terms of the spice notes and yeast. Still good, though.

Draught at PP Carlsbad on July 2, 2009. Honey-gold color with a white head. Fragrant and floral aroma with light spiciness and vanilla. The flavor is spicy with cinnamon and has a minty, herbal hop finish. Light bodies with medium carbonation. I was expecting a boring blonde ale (the board said nothing about it being a Belgian Blonde) but this was pretty good stuff, packing a lot of flavor into a light and drinkable beer that I could see even the casual beer drinker getting into. I thought at first that the bartender had poured some other beer, but it all makes sense now.
