Lets keep this one simple.

This is a kick ass classic west coast IPA.

Super piney with some fruit on the nose. Pours clear, clean and very consistent.
Goes great with chiles and other spicy foods.

Always ultra fresh with convenient canned on date on the bottom. Usually when I get these they are only a week or two old. Cant beat that!

Swamis, I love you... at $13 for 6 pints my wallet also loves you.

One of my favorite daily drivers, get some.

Pours hazy gold with a pillowy white head. Clean, fresh hop aroma with lots of citrus. More grapefruit and some resin in the taste, with maybe some strawberry. Bit of earthy malt to check the hops. Resiny finish. Yum. A great beer that is almost always on tap.

On Tap

Pizza Port
Solana Beach, CA

Clear amber, nearly copper, with a small light khaki colored head that leaves irregular lines of lace down the glass. Pretty.

Mild citrus aroma along with bread and a bit of caramel. This isn't nearly as hop-forward, tropical, and pungent as I'm used to getting from Pizza Port's on tap IPAs.

The flavor is simple, with mild pine and citrus flavors, along with moderate to high bitterness, even for the style. This is simple, drinkable, though somewhat plain and uninteresting. Interestingly, this IPA seems to be a bit old, though it's brewed here so that shouldn't be the case.

Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.

Decent IPA, though Pizza Port makes far better examples of the style.

Another SDIBF tasting note. Came out a darker auburn and amber. What happened to the hops? None in the nose, or anything else for that matter.

Tastes like a lighter ipa for Port, barely noticeable pine. A light caramel base. Almost the antithesis of their anniversary or hop 15 beers. Stays around in the mouthfeel, which is always nice. What seemed like a lighter ipa evolves into a more sturdy one. Just didn't resonate the first few sips. Port's stuff is always priced nicely, which really helps drinkability.

Edit: much easier to smell the aroma today, 6-25-11. Getting a growler

I really hate reviewing the beer here...it belongs under the main Pizza Port USA heading...corporate, but they won't let you review it there and say to review it where you enjoyed it.
Huh?
At home? I bought it in San Clemente but it's brewed and bottled in Solano Beach AT THE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS
<sigh>

Poured an impressive cloudy orange/amber with a massive off white head that stays forever, leaving a thick coating of lace in it's wake. At the end of the beer, there was still almost a half finger of head left.

Aromas are softly amber malt and then lots of citrus and pine oil hops.

Flavor is surprising...almost like a DIPA in the malt complexity and softness of the hops...don't get me wrong...the hops are definitely there, but so are the malts and a nice balance is achieved between the two, particularly if you let it warm a bit.

Mouthfeel is creamy and thick enough for a DIPA, however there is no cloying sweetness or aftertaste so it finishes dry like an IPA should.
A little disappointed that I couldn't notice the 'fresh blast' of hops from dry hopping I am used to, but decent none the less.
