Enjoyed on-tap @ Pizza Port Brewing in Carlsbad, CA for $5. Tapped from the Black Non-Labeled Tap Handle into a Pint Glass and shared with Ralph. This one was brewed with Hollister.

Aroma- Medium hop aroma and low malts. Has a clean smell but barely any fruits, spices, or anything else noticeable.

Appearance- Very light yellow body that is as clear as you can get before calling it water. Has a 1 finger head that dies down quickly and small lacing.

Flavor- Extremely light, huge malt taste, and very smooth with bit of spice. A very easy finish with a low bitterness.

Mouthfeel- Light Bodied, Medium Carbonation, and leaves bit of hop on the palate.

Overall Impression- Wanted to have back to back Belgian Pale Ales to see if the Spaceman was really that good. And it was! This one didn't have enough body or complexity but was still decent. Smooth and refreshing, not sure I would categorize this as a Belgian Pale Ale though... More like a Pilsner.

On tap at Churchill's in a tulip.

A: Yellow gold and very hazy with a small creamy white head.

S: Grassy hops with a slight herbal note. Orange, pear, and a little lemon. Malt imparts biscuit notes. Lightly spicy.

T: Pear and orange with peppery phenols. Light biscuity malt with nutty notes. Faint grassy character. Smooth dry fruity finish with light spicy notes.

M: Medium light in body with high carbonation. Mouthfeel is dry, sticky, and spritzy.

Overall: A straight forward yet enjoyable Belgian Pale Ale.

On-tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad

A: The beer pours a very pale straw color with a finger of white head that is rather short lived.

S: An intensely spicy nose with a lot of pepper and coriander. Some fruit esters come into the picture as I pick up banana, but otherwise most of the sweetness comes from the malt, which is heavy on the bread and toffee.

T: A pretty similar story on the palate, but more yeast driven. Fruity esters give the beer some pears, apples, and banana but there are a lot of spice notes such as the pepper that I noted on the aroma. Sweet toffee and caramel with a decent amount of bread.

M: The body is pretty light, maybe medium, and the carbonation is quite high.

D: Not a bad beer at all, and I'm not always a big fan of Pizza Port's Belgian style beers. Light and easy to drink.

Sampled 2/6/2011 at the brewpub.

Pours bright yellow, clear, fine white head, low retention, and decent lacing.

Aroma is sweet malt, banana, bread, and a little black pepper.

Flavor is a typical Belgian pale ale with a combination of banana, spices, and bready malts. No alcohol flavor, low bitterness, and high CO2.

Body is light and refreshing, drinkable.
