Called a session ale at the brewery. Pours a dark yellow to light amber color, average head, decent retention, everything looks the part for a hoppy port brew. Aroma was a little muted, was hoping for more dry hop aroma in this, very little existed. The first time I had this was on tap at the brewery, but thought, since my allergies were so bad, that I would buy a growler and drink it later when my face wasn't swollen and congested. Didn't matter, still couldn't smell the hops.
Taste, again, very muted hop quality. Whereas Drake's, Jupiter, Bruery all make insanely hoppy session beers, this just didn't cut the mustard. Sessionable definitely, meeting expectations of possibly the best ipa producing brewery in the world, no. Mild zest and citrus feel. When I read a description of a mild style beer, this is what I think of, just this had the hopping a little more.

Draft service into a shaker pint glass at Pizza Port in San Clemente.
A: Clear, pale golden color with one finger of white foam head. Moderate lacing remains on the glass.
S: Delicate floral and citrus hops become undetectable a few minutes after being served. While very appealing at first, the departure of the hop notes reveals an unfortunate absence of other qualities.
T: Begins dry, with prominent herbaceous and spicy hop aromatics that also show some faint citrus qualities. The middle is toasty, chalky, alkaline, with some faint corn finding nowhere to hide. The finish is mildly bitter but otherwise seltzery clean.
M: Thin viscosity, unexpectedly creamy on the palate to the point of being unctuous, with moderate carbonation.
D: Another hoppy session ale from a Southern California brewery. At least that seemed to be the intent here. In practice, it lags in comparison to the Stone collaboration and the Bruery's Humulus Session, with hops struggling to gain traction, unable to influence the otherwise unappealing flavor.

Pours a pale golden yellow. Not much orange/amber to it. This is an IPA?
Smells faintly of floral, maybe a bit of citrus zest, but mainly just ... not much.
Taste is fairly straight-forward. Just a bit of zesty, slightly citrus-y/pine-y bitterness with a background of a wee bit of toastiness. Frankly, it tastes like an ESB. I get a toasted bitter burnt bread vibe from it.
NIcely carbonated, but utterly forgettable.

On-tap at Pizza Port San Clemente
This one is called a "Session IPA"
A: This one pours an almost perfectly clear golden straw color with a finger of white head. Some nice lacing to go with it.
S: A decent enough citrus nose with a bit of orange peel and tangerine. Despite being an "IPA", it is really quite bready. Toasted malt/bread aromas and some floral hop notes.
T: Pretty much the same story on the palate. Floral hops along with some citrus peel and a mild to moderate bitterness. Pale, crackery malts are the primary flavor component to this beer.
M: Light to medium in body with a moderate carbonation and a crisp finish.
D: Easy to drink as it's not really aggressive/offensive in anyway. Pretty bland, especially for an IPA.
