Short and sweet, I sampled it before picking up my growler , after being in the Midwest for the past 3 years it was a nice suprise, not as strong or bold in flavor as most west coast double IPA's , but still an awesome , well rounded beer, definitley packed with hops, more on the citrus side with flavor, great smell and mouthfeel , I just didn't get the bite I was hoping for, definitley worth trying, I would imagine it is only sold in house at pizza port, nice change of pace after dealing with Missourian style IPA's with an acception for O'fallen 5

Enjoyed in a shaker pint.

Topped with the most fluffy, creamy foam ever. Like frothy merengue. Deep amber liquid. Mostly clear.

I could smell this all day. Like caramelized orange slices. Burnt sugar, citrus, cotton candy, a touch of biscuits, grass. Very sugary, very good.

Less sweet and more dank, in the flavor, but still good. Grass, a bit of tropical mango. Orange peel, a touch of grapefruit. Bitter grass on the sides. Not as much sweetness. A little sugar. Balanced.

Smooth medium body, with fairly high, prickly carbonation. Lingering bitterness.

Solid all day.

On tap at Pizza Port San Clemente.

My pint arrives with a finger of tight white foam riding atop the dark golden to amber colored beer. The head recedes leaving sticky lacing on the sides of my glass. The nose is piney with citrus notes. Initial taste starts out with citrus rind bitterness and sweet orange flesh. A bready malt backbone balances things out a bit mid-palate, but bitter grapefruit and pine slide in on the backside and the beer finishes sem-dry with a lingering bitterness. Feel on the fuller side with a nice sticky, resinous quality. Medium carbonation. Overall a very enjoyable offering in the DIPA category from one of my favorite breweries. Recommended.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad

A: Glowing orange color with a one finger white head. Great looking beer.

S: Some good pine hops with a faint dose of citrus in the back.

T: With all the citrus dominated IPAs out there, it was nice to see a bit of a change of pace with this one. Nice piney hop flavor with just a hint of biscuity malt. Pretty solid.

Growler from San Clemente courtesy of James. Thanks!

Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange color with a finger of white head. A very intense hop aroma to this. Lots of herbal and line hop notes. Just a bit of citrus peel in there, too. Some sweet bread and malt on the back end. A bit sweet and quite a bit of bread and toasted malt. A bit of herbal and pine hop flavor with a little bitterness on the finish. Not quite as good as many of the other Pizza Port IPAs. Medium body and medium carbonation.

A: golden color Poured with a finger of head into a pint glass. Lacing of the head remains on the glass.

S: lots of grapefruit on the nose. A good aroma but not as strong as other West coast dipas I've had

T: lots of grapefruit and maybe a little mango flavor. Good astringent ending/aftertaste

M: a good resiny feel. Plenty of carb on the tongue. A little lighter feel than I'm used to in a DIPA

O: another solid hoppy beer from Pizza port. Not necessarily my favorite but I'll have another glass of it the next time I see it.
