On Tap

Pizza Port Bressi Ranch
Carlsbad, CA

Clear golden. Slightly sticky. Pretty and appropriate.

Very nice aroma of a melange of citrus components (grapefruit, orange, and tangerine).

Moderately bitter, similar citrus notes found in the aroma, along with some floral elements. Very drinkable.

Medium bodied with near-high carbonation.

Very good hoppy pale ale.

Yellow color approaching gold, 1/2" white head on top, small bubbles, quick evisceration from there.

Aroma was simcoe and citrus it seemed. Nice, but not dank.

Taste, a good amount of citric rind flavor, solid bitterness, almost no malt flavors. Mouthfeel high in carbonation, bitter soapiness. Crisp, relatively dry and herbal.

A good, not great beer from Pizza Port San Clemente.

On-tap at San Clemente

The pour is a clear golden color with a big white head and sticky lacing. Citrus peel dominates the nose. Lots of floral hops, bready malt, and a light sweetness. Some grapefruit, tangerine, and a light pineapple aroma as it warms. Mild bitterness to go with a nice fruity hop profile. Grapefruit, orange, and tangerine make up the bulk of the hop flavor, though there is a fairly strong floral character. Plenty of bread sweetness with a light toffee note.

Brewery says this is made with Nelson Sauvin hops. On tap at the Ocean Beach Pizza Port.

Handsome copper-tinted amber in the pint shaker. Modest foam with plenty of spritz on the tongue. Pleasantly malty mouthful with a winey sensation. More robust body than man Pale Ales. Toasty flavor with a big hop taste and plenty of bitterness. This seems to be less fruity than other Nelson-hopped brews I've had. The hops are used with some restraint here instead of fthe usual IPA balls to the wall abandon.

Still the aftertaste is quite bitter. Warmly malty with an herbal taste. Quite drinkable. I'd rather see this in cans than the current sharp hop excursions.

On tap at the Better Weather Fest at Golden Road Brewing in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and some herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with a medium earthy and herbal hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some super earthy aroma and flavors.

Yellowish gold appearance, over 1/2" head on the top of the beer, dem tiny bubbles without much in the way of retention or lacing due to its hoppiness.

Aroma, not the dankest PP offering, but it was definitely simcoe hoppy and citrusy, with a small amount of Nelsons to help offer up dat dank.

Taste, citrus rind leaning almost lemon-tangerine (milder), minimal cracker malt, bitter. Lot of carbonation, some herbal soapiness. Would bang again.
