Raceway is our flagship IPA at Carlsbad. This beer is light in color and is high in hop flavor with a boost of grapefruit, citrus, pine and tropical fruit and a very, very fine finish.

Half pint in pint glass at Pizza Port Carlsbad.
Almost glassy yellow beer with a tight white head. The lacing is impressive as it leaves more a coat than patches.
Re-dankulous hops emanate from the glass in shades of weed, tangerine, Meyer lemon, red grapefruit, pineapple, and cucumber.
I’m going in! I find dank hops that drip with orange oil, grapefruit, pine, and maybe some other resin. There’s an inner sweetness and saltine pale malt flavor, but in the end it’s as dry and rough as your skin on a windy frigid day.
It races across the palate, it’s bubbles as hooves, kicking at your tastebuds. Medium bodied beer that’s rough with carbonation, bitterness, and dryness.
Port has another winning West Coast IPA that packs a vibrant punch. The San Diego area truly is a Mecca of craft beer because places like Port have experience putting beers like this together from top to bottom.

Type: Draft
Glass: 16-oz. pint glass
From: Alpine Beer Company Pub in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $6
Purchased: July 26, 2015
Consumed: July 26, 2015

Poured a honey, pale, clear color with two fingers of off white, frothy head. Very good layered foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Good smelling of nectarine, tangerine, Citra, tropical blossom, peach juice, caramel and Mosaic. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t as good as the nose, but good. Got nectarine, bitter orange rind, caramel, gritty mango, tropical pulp, peach, Citra and I think Amarillo. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This was a very good IPA. I changed a few of my ratings around a bit, but I’m happy with this final version. (Overall - 4.00)
