Pizza Port Bressi Ranch
Carlsbad, CA

A gorgeous and tasty IPA from Pizza Port, though there's nothing surprising about that at this point. Aroma and flavors are well balanced--definite resin and floral hop notes along with citrus and a little biscuit and cracker malt. Decent citrus character in the aroma and flavor--not a lot of bitterness, especially compared to some other Port offerings. Very drinkable and tasty with pizza. A number of friends had recommended this one, so I had quite high expectations. While delicious, I was actually hoping for something more. Would drink again, especially with Pizza Port's pizza.

On cask @ FFF

A - Cloudy light orange colour with one finger of lightly dense off white head.

S/T - Jalapeno flavour without spice. Some citrus, pine and honey. Juiciness without the specific pineapple flavour.

M - Light to medium body. Light carbonation.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. A Citra fresh hop IPA. Tulip.

A: Pellucid golden yellow with a mountain of white froth. Outstanding retention and lots of lacing. Good clarity.

S: Grainy, crackery malt lays a light foundation for tangerine, orange, and floral notes. Faintly grassy. There's a bit of mango in there.

T: Lightly grassy with notes of orange, guava, tangerine, and a touch of mango. Grainy malt provides a whisper of sweetness. Smooth lower moderate bitterness, devoid of astringency. The beer has a slightly lemony finish. Bitterness grows stronger near the end.

M: Upper light body with upper medium carbonation. Dry, sticky crisp mouthfeel.

On tap at Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA.

Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and slight tropical fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with a citrus zest flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that quite hoppy but drinkable.
