I picked this one up at a nice beer store in Monroeville, PA.
Served in a Mad Elf tulip.
A: Fairly light, orange-yellow color, with about a 1.5 finger head that clung to the glass like Spider-Man.
S: I got "Flinstone Vitamin" upfront, along with a good bit of Belgian funk, and quite a bit of candi sugar.
T: First of all, Tripels are my favorite Belgian style. That said, this has almost an unfresh flavor to it. Some staleness actually. Is that what the brewer intended and maybe it's not my cup of tea? I will say this though, I kinda dug the rye cracker quality at the end.
M: Sweet, and very date-like, with a thick sugariness that, if that was the brewer's goal, he/she succeeded. The lacing left on the glass was splotchy.
O: I'm on the fence with this one. I don't this this was poorly crafted at all. More like, I have vision in my mind of the perfect Tripel, and this one doesn't follow that mold. Still.... not bad.
