Our Gran Met (Grand Master) is an Ale made from our Propriatery yeast from a small brewery in Belgium. We use Cane and Beet sugar, along with German Pilsner Malt to create the unique flavor of this age old style. We also use a unique fermentation process of slowly adding the sugars to the fermentation during fermentation. This allows the yeast to more slowly ferment the beer without overloading the yeast. This process allows for a more clean, tight flavor profile.

It pours a slightly hazy straw yellow with a massive head of foam, good lacing.
The smell is spicy, fruity, yeasty, coriander.
The taste is fruity, yeasty, some Belgian spicy, bits of hoppy bitterness here and there, not without some sweetness.
Medium bodied with lively carbonation.
Not one that I would revisit.

It had been so long since I've had it that I was very excited to hear of the unfruited OG's return, as even my review on here was a carryover from handwritten notes that I no longer fully endorsed. Thus the time has finally come for a revisit, as I delete my 2015 review and start fresh entirely.
Gran Met presents a lightly foggy but clear burnt gold appearance with a dense but moderately short and level white head dispersing to a persistent, curled ridge.
Far more traditional and, most importantly, quaffable than Love Child, this deftly exhibits classic characteristics of lightly toasted wheat with mild clove and a hint of pear, all becoming slightly black peppery as it warms.
What I most enjoy is the delicately fluffy carbonation that lifts the medium body to that stellar quaffability despite its horsepower. This then comes to a softly powder dry finish.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Cloudy medium golden pour. 1.5 fingers of white head leaves a decent ring of lacing.
S: Yeast, banana, and fruit. A bit of spice.
T.F: Yeasty esters... slightly sweet sugars and toasted malts. Banana and clove... light citrus, grape skin, coriander, and apple. Medium bodied.. prickly carbonation. Hides its ABV nicely. More fruit and spice at the finish.
O: An above average American-made tripel. Has the right flavor set. Nothing to scare the Belgians, but for something readily available in town you could do a lot worse.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours a clear golden color with a one-finger foamy white head that disappears completely, leaving nothing behind
S- a spicy vegetal note mixes with aromas of clove, peppery yeast, apples, pear & phenolic notes
T- peppery yeast up front adds notes of clove, banana, ripe pear and green apple. Mid-palate gives some musty notes, as well as more pepper. The finish gives some phenolic notes and lingers of clove
M- medium body with medium biting carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a slightly warming finish
O- a solid effort for the style, only downside is the weird vegetal note at times

This is a nice Belgian. The most impressive thing about it is the smell - a bit sweet with hints of spices. If that is appealing to a person, then the flavor won't disappoint, as it closely resembles the smell. Carbonation is appropriate, and I would judge the body as medium.
I'm glad I tried this. one.

I don't see a bottle date listed.
Appearance: The body is a light amber orange which has an opalescence that prevents it from being seen through. The head is very short and fades quickly to a thin ring of white. It's a far cry from the usual large and rocky white head that accompanies most other Tripels.
Aroma: There is a pleasant clove and sweet smelling caramel aroma.
Taste: There is a nice oxidized caramel flavor to the beer which has a bit of a cardboard presence mixed with a sweet but light caramel flavor. There is a faint clove flavor.
Mouthfeel: The winner in this beer is the mouthfeel. It has a nice bubbly texture with a light and effervescent body that finishes clean and refreshing. It finishes off-dry. It is pleasant to drink.
Overall: It lacks a bit in aroma and it feels quite a bit aged. I don't know how old this beer is because there is no date code. Still, the beer is enjoyable. There are a lot of Tripels I would recommend before this one but it is good enough that I would drink it again.

22 oz bomber pours a yellow liquid with 2/3" white head. Phenolic yeast, alcohol heat comes through in the first few whifs on the nose and some boozy apple later on.
Taste leans first with alcohol and a dry toasted malt feel. Hopping is very light, yeast phenols are high. Alcohol remains constant and pressuring through the entire experience. Gets even more challenging as it warms, bringing out even more alcohol. Any beet sugar doesn't seem to be around in the finished product, maybe it just cooked out into the pronounced dryness of the beer. There's a little bit of bubblegum note. Alcohol bubble gum with a splice of apple like gulden drak.
I'll never be a tripel fan, and this foray was no different. I just get tons of alcohol heat and yeast plasticness. Take this review for what it is worth from someone who almost never likes tripels.
