Received a couple of these in trades - thanks to those responsible!
A - Black is a good adjective. Dense, opaque, and massive would be appropriate as well. Three finger head in tulip is surprising considering the high ABV. Nice light tan color to the head, and it has stayed through half the glass.
S - Low sweatness - mostly roasty bitterness. A bit of booziness can be detected as well.
T&M - VERY well balanced. The bitter roasted flavors dominate, and blend into a bit of harshness from the alcohol, but the line is subtle and complementing. There is enough of a semi-sweet malt backbone to hold everything together. A nice long bitter finish to round everything out.
D - I was thinking this was 8.5% from memory until I checked the bottle. There is no denying the alcohol presence, but it hides at least some of it very well. The complementing flavors leave nothing overpowering anything else, and the result is a dangerously drinkable big beer. Voodoo indeed.
