A - pours a deep dark black, with a 1-finger creamy tan head. Head has a lot of small carbonation bubbles and subsides slowly, leaving a nice lacing along the Bruery tulip glass it has been poured into.
S - Raisin is my first thought. Chocolate and vanilla swirl follow behind. A hint of barrel-aged alcohol follows.
T - Acidic coffee throughout the forefront, with a slightly sweeter malt middle that is almost imperceptible. Some creamy vanilla follows nearer the back that gives way to more coffee at the back. Did I mention acidic coffee, because it is definitely there.
M - Two words: over-carbonated. It's just too crisp for my liking for an imperial stout. And all that coffee-ness comes through, too, to present a bit of a bad-Starbucks-feel. For as nice as this almost tastes, and as enjoyable as the aroma and the appearance, this just feels wrong for some reason.
O - Having an aged version of this would be absolutely wonderful I suspect. Alas, I do not know for sure. But maybe one day .... In the meantime, this is a fine sipping imperials stout.

This beer reminded me of a lighter version of Plead the 5th. It was lighter in aspects including taste, mouth feel, color and body. Thinner than I would have thought considering the percentage of alcohol. The smell was pretty decent with chocolate, light roasted malt and booze coming to the forefront. Not a terrible imperial stout by any means, but lacking that punch of flavor I look for in a big stout.
