Formerly PILZILLA.

Pilzilla is a beer that I've been brewing for years. Each year it gets bigger and bigger. Nicknamed "The beer that took over Tokyo". It is an unfiltered Keller Bier. Nicley hopped at this point with 6 to 7 different kinds of hops and about 6.25 % ABV Each year we will add another variety of hop and bump the alcohol a bit. This is not your average pilsner, get it before we drink it all! Prost!!

Had this on 2015-02-10 in Columbia, PA. This bottle is labeled Pilzilla although I see it has been renamed to KillaPilz.

A - Pretty hazy orange-gold with a 1.5-finger white head a good lace.

S - Mild aromas of biscuit, plantain and mild hop floral.

T - Cross between a hoppy Pils and an IPA. It has some sweet and bready flavor underneath a big dollop of citrus flesh and rind bitterness, which lingers into the dry finish. There's a nice spice/pepper aspect that adds to its appeal. It's a very pleasant flavor as if you mixed 50% Pilsner Urquell with 50% Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Prickly and mildly resinous.

O - I quite enjoyed this brew and would seek it out again.

Bottle purchased at Voodoo Brewing Company in Meadville, PA.

Pours a slightly dark, full-looking yellow, with a half inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells lagerish and fruity, with some spicy, grassy hop aromas in the back, along with pilsner malt.

This is one of the yeastier lagers I've ever had, it gives off fruity flavors, some peach, with a good portion of grassy and floral hop flavors, slightly spicy and peppery. The malt character is quite doughy, lending fullness to the body, and a sweet bready backbone to the beer.

This is medium bodied, with a crisp, slightly sweet mouthfeel, and a medium amount of carbonation. It's really drinkable.

Really cool label on the bottle, and really cool beer inside. Very different from the typical hoppy American lager.

Undated bottle at 40 degrees into snifter
Aroma of yeast when opened – this rapidly dissipates
Head small (2 cm), white, frothy, slowly diminishing to 3 mm layer
Lacing good – complete rings of tiny bubbles
Body medium yellow, cloudy
Flavor begins and ends with hop bitterness. In between a hit of malt occurs. No alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate medium, watery, soft carbonation

Appearance 4.5, Aroma 4.25, Flavor 4, Palate 4, Overall 4.1875
Actually quite good – Voodoo calls it a pilsner but it’s still good – well worth buying again.
