Notes/Commercial Description:
Pilzilla is a beer that I've been brewing for years. Each year it gets bigger and bigger. Nicknamed "The beer that took over Tokyo". It is an unfiltered Keller Bier. Nicley hopped at this point with 6 to 7 different kinds of hops and about 6.25 % ABV Each year we will add another variety of hop and bump the alcohol a bit. This is not your average pilsner, get it before we drink it all! Prost!!

22 oz bottle with no freshness date, poured into a Speigelau stemmed pilsner glass, cold.

Pours an off-yellow, cloudy and murky body with a small white head with some retention and lacing.

Smells of dank hops and pils malts

Taste is bitter with a light soft bready component, very hoppy with agressive piney floral taste pattern, not as much of the citrus or tropical fruit flavoring. Bitter aftertaste lingers.

Medium bodied, smooth, crisp, dry finish, what the ideal lager should be.

I'd happily drink it again, but don't know if I'd seek it out.

The beer is a hazy honey orange amber color with a large white head.

The aroma has tons of floral honey, flowery hops, a light crackery malt, and lavender.

The flavor follows with a honey sweetness, a crackery malt, and then loads of piney green bitterness. It lingers with lemon and potpourri. It really is incredible on the flavor. For lager haters, this is perfect because of the beautiful bitterness.

The mouthfeel is lightly creamy with some carbonation.

An incredible American take on the style.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and grassy aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and grassy flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice balance of citrus and grassy qualities.

Pours into a becker a dull medium golden with a large blooming white head that settles very slowly into a soapy-like mass leaving multiple broken rings of lace behind.Grainy with honey malt notes in the nose,a little grain alcohol is detected.Grainy and bready on the palate with some alcohol-like sweetness a leafy/herbal finsih dryes it out a little more.It seems bigger than what it is ut it's a nice lager beer and it goes well with some kassler and kraut.
