This White ale is made with a little Voodoo Twist. We use our house Tripel yeast and add the average unmalted wheat, wheat, barley and just add more of each. Hopped evenly and spiced with coriander, bitter orange peel, juniper and Jeremys' favorite spice to remain a mystery. This beer is to be the answer to those hot summer days. Blows away carbonated water!!!!!

not quite imperial wit, but bigger than the average, a neat place to take this style into, uncommon anyway. its wheaty, rather robustly spiced, and the yeast is estery, vinous, and on the edge of being dominant. the proportions and the size make it distinct, but im not sure its as refined and dialed as the best examples of witbier, it is oddly heavy even for being stronger. more of a richer color here too, rusty orange rather than pale yellow, a little cloudy but not messy, some crystal malt of some kind in the mix id guess, maybe the wheat is toasted, either way it manifests as body. i do like the flavor depth though, and i think its needed with all the coriander and yeast character in this. i get white wine, white pepper, anise, fennel, plantain, the bitter orange peel for sure, and some malt sweetness running through it, there is a slight metallic thing as it warms too, and its approaching phenolic on the ferment, both of which cheapen this slightly to me, but the flavors are good. it seems slightly hoppy among the orange character, there is a spruce type wrinkle as it warms too, and the wheat has plenty of flavor. i think a cool take on the style, if a little overdeveloped on the yeast, its well spiced, smooth and not boozy for what it is, and offers a pretty clever belgian inspired flavor profile, one of the better overall beers we had when visiting their scranton location. tasty grub in here too, and fantastic service!

16oz can, a bit aged, admittedly.

On a hard pour a very fizzy white head forms, but quickly becomes Rick and disappears completely. Body is very hazy, with some solid sediment that came out of solution. Not the best, but it is old.

Aroma is VERY orangey and yeasty with big bright fruity notes coming out immediately. Some pale bready malt is present in the back providing some balance.

Flavor is exactly what was promised some triple notes from the yeast and a nice smooth, slightly sweet, and bready malt is very present throughout. The fruit is still present with some light spice, but the flavor is mostly malt. There is a light bitterness in the finish.

Feel is very dry and surprisingly drinkable. Crisp but with a long finish.

Overall this is a very unique beer, and I had a few misgivings at first, but on my first taste I was definitely impressed. A solid witbier triple.

The pour to empty a pint can into a clear Imperial pint glass goes very nicely. There's plenty of carbonation, but the head is a reasonable one, although it was short-lived. The brew is a slightly dull and cloudy golden amber. The aroma is of a witbier, more pronounced than most, maybe a little malt like. Even the taste brings malt like aspects, but there's no doubt that this is a witbier. But, it is a hybrid and it should work for most that don't particularly like the original style. There's enough barley malt to provide a good balance to some sharp hop bite. Only the body suffers a bit here, as it's thin, despite carrying a nice malt flavor inclusion. This is a clever combination of beer styles. All the additional flavorings are tasteful and done subtley. Although it's not great, it's commendable and worth the try.

White Magick of the Sun has a thick, off-white, spongy head, and a mostly clear, orange-gold appearance, with an incredible amount of big tan chunks, throughout. Lacing is minimal. The aroma is of spices, orange peel, and white wheat bread. The flavor is similar, with very low bitterness. Mouthfeel is low medium, and White Magick of the Sun has a medium-dry finish.

Foggy burnt yellow-orange with a short dense white blanket settling to a thin ring.

Mild wheat pairs with coriander phenols that turn to fresh cracked black pepper with a hint of orange peel.

The medium body is quaffable yet uniquely complex for the style.

16 fl oz pull-tab can ran $2.99 USD plus tax at a beer store in New Orleans, Louisiana. Best by 06/04/21.

"Wheat ale with spices." 7.3% ABV. "Ingredients: water, barley, wheat, coriander, bitter & sweet orange peel, juniper berries, 12 varieties of peppercorns, hops, yeast."

From their website: "White Magick of the Sun is our Voodoo-ized version of a classic Belgian White Ale. This spiced wheat ale is fermented with our proprietary Belgian yeast, then conditioned on coriander, juniper berries, orange peel and a unique peppercorn blend, resulting in a spice-forward interpretation of a time-honored classic."

Served cold into a stemless wine glass.

APPEARANCE: Plainly visible yeast/lees/"floaties" are immediately obvious floating in the dark dull copper body, indicating this wasn't filtered. Head is frothy and off-white with a robust and creamy texture. Head retention is good given the high ABV (~8 minutes).

Sure, the body is a bit dull, but it's a beer that looks alive and true to the Belgian tradition of not filtering.

AROMA: Pepper is present, but I have to admit I expected more peppery aromatics given the 12 different varieties they ostensibly used...I'm getting a generic black pepper on the back end and a vaguely Belgian white pepper up front in tandem with yeast-derived clove and spice aromatics. Juniper isn't indicated aromatically, nor is any gin-like bitterness.

Lacks any fresh orange peel aromatics (whether from actual fruit or just an ale yeast ester). I can't say the orange peel used is coming through in the aroma at all.

Coriander...sure. No banana, bubblegum, or other esters/phenols.

Aroma suggests a yeast-driven beer that doesn't really deliver on all the additives utilized. I'm hoping it tastes more spicy than its aroma indicates.

TASTE & TEXTURE: A bit dry, and too warmly alcoholic (though it does stop short of feeling boozy or hot) to be refreshing. Well carbonated, though, and aptly medium-bodied. Feels a bit heavy on the palate for a witbier, but then I guess you have to expect that when one crosses the 7% line...

Not as peppery as I'd hoped, nor as spicy whether from actual coriander or just from the Belgian yeast. I get some muted clove, white pepper, coriander, and that's about it...maybe some faint mashed banana.

Certainly doesn't evoke orange peel or juniper berry, but then I don't care for juniper berries/gin-redolent flavours in general unless they're handled a bit more delicately as in Sahti. Fresh orange peel would really help this beer pop a bit more...as-is it drinks disappointingly malt-dominant, leaning heavy on the wheat malt and pale malt without really bringing its spices, additives, and yeast into clear focus. I can't call it balanced as a result.

OVERALL: ABV is quite noticeable for a witbier, reducing the beer's drinkability. It's rather insipid for all its ingredients, and has less depth of flavour than something like Allagash White (which doesn't need to lean on gimmicks or change the style up in order to be great).

I do think I get a hint of bitter/brewers' orange peel as it approaches room temperature, but I have to say all its additives feel subdued in the mix, and the beer's malt dominance is its undoing. In all honesty, I'd sooner drink Blue Moon, and that ain't ~$3 a pint...

Well the name alone is great. Especially the spelling of magick. Pours out murky yellow with little head. Smells Iike a wheat beer, lemony and orangy. Tastes like many spices. The label says coriander so I’m getting that but also strong cloves and perhaps nutmeg. The taste lingers in the mouth long after the sip goes down so you better like the taste and if you don’t (my wife doesn’t) then it’s stuck with you for a while. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and medium carbonated. I don’t know if I can give this a fair review cuz I don’t really like wheat beers. Not bad, not great.

Fairly clear, golden body; plenty of carbonation makes the body mildly hazy; thick, frothy white head. Dull sweetness on the nose; old orange; peach and pear. Nice bit of complex flavors; wheat and other cereal grains; candi sugar; yeasty; yellow pitted fruit notes; slight caramel; orange and coriander. Heavy body; slightly syrupy; some alcohol heat.

A flavorful and sticky beer, perhaps not as refreshing on a hot day as a good lager or pilsner or even hefeweizen, but interesting enough.

I like the bottle label artwork. There is no date on the bottle. The pour is orange with sediment in the glass. The taste is orange, honey, wheat, faint clove & cardamom. Cheers! B

Pours hazy, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is big clove, coriander, and candied orange. High carbonation, sweet, light bodied. A rare imperial witbier that works. The extra alcohol does not distract from the normal clean flavors of the witbier. Nice summer sipper. Could have a couple especially on a hot day.

Poured into a tall weizen from the bottle, relatively fresh package BestBy 20191201

A: Dinged due to excessive suspended solids, it was extreme. Beautiful golden as expected otherwise, head was lacking, gone in 60 seconds so to speak. Carbonation seemed adequate but head was not up to task.

S: Average Wit in every way. Spicy white pepper yeast, coriander, etc. Right down the middle of the lane.

T: Again, average. white pepper, Belgian yeast, balanced in the way a Wit should be. Nothing offensive, nothing too exciting for the style. The spice profile is the typical coriander, white pepper and light wheat backbone.

M: slick, filling and quite nice Little bitterness on ultimate finish.

O: If you are offered, don'I would not turn my nose up at this, and if in a Mix pack, it is nice but I better be seeking something else in it, like KillaPils or Voodoo.

Quite possibly the best and most unique wheat ale I've ever had...

Right out of the bottle I was impressed - bright orange coloration, the spice clearly floating in the liquid and a white, foamy head that have experienced in a very long time - it was impressive. The smell was about on par with all other wheat beers I've had but the mouthfeel was very light and very crisp even though it was considerably carbonated. I will say, the carbonation improved as it warmed and didn't have that lingering, will-not-die, effect some other beers have. The taste was unique due to the spicy nature of the brew, which made it distinctive to me over other wheat ales. Otherwise, it was about on par with others I have had. Overall, this is a very nice beer, a nice surprise and deviation from the normal offering of the style.

Look: Hazy orange yellow with a tiny white head.

Smell: Fruity, spicy citrus and malt.

Taste: Much more mild than the smell. Breadlike with none of the spices the nose suggests.

Mouthfeel: Mildly thick and very carbonated.

Overall: A bit disappointing. The taste is nothing like the nose.

What an odd-looking specimen! Pinky finger of white head vanishes in a heartbeat leaving behind pale blonde ale with bits of... something suspended in the stew. And I do mean suspended; the stuff (whatever it is) doesn't move. Looks like a melting popsicle. Also sports active carbonation with big bubbles constantly floating topside. Just a strange looking brew, this is! Smells of spicy Belgian yeast and peppercorns of some variety or other. Perhaps a blend? Coriander is definitely in the mix as well as the requisite (for the style) clove. Taste follows the spice train, but with an added lemon bite. Man, this is a weird one. I'm not sure how refreshing this would be (it's a touch thick and sweet; almost syrupy) on a hot day, especially as it starts to warm. Bonus points for the artwork on the label, though, which is top-notch!
