Got this one from claaark13 a while back. Big fan of the regular version so I was stoked to see these. Thanks a lot man! Appreciated.

From a 12oz bottle into a snifter

The Barrel Room Collection
Drank this one first, then the PvW and the Apple Brandy

APPEARANCE: These all look the same basically. Thick black pour yields a 1+ finger, slightly looser, crackly, foamy dark tan head with decent retention. Inky black body with no real carbonation evident. Head crackles down to a decent foamy cap and then to a foamy ring only. Ring and a few wispy dots remain but no lacing down the sides. Black and nasty, but a decent-at-best head.

SMELL: Big nose on this one with plenty of bourbon, oak, vanilla, coconut, molasses, toffee and pure dark chocolate. Very aromatic and quite full of barrel aromas. Perhaps a touch of roasted grain in there, but the barrel, which is rather decadent in itself, plays the most important role here.

TASTE: Oak and bourbon up front, with vanilla, coconut and some dark chocolate at the swallow. Flavorful finish, with plenty of toffee and coconut, vanilla sweetness, bourbon, some roasted grains and nice, pure, bitter dark chocolate as well. Aftertaste is sweet, malty, with plenty of barrel character and lingers nicely on the palate. This is really good.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A touch light perhaps, but creamy enough on the palate, goes down fine with no real bite, perhaps a light scratch at this point, and finishes sticky on the palate. Some decent heat lingers as well. Good stuff, but with all barrel aged beers, they often lack that heavyweight feel I so love in the style. Otherwise, top notch.

OVERALL: This is lovely. Way, way more impressive and enjoyable that the Big Black Voodoo Daddy barrel treatments that came out around the same time as these ones. This has all the character of the barrel that we love and a hefty stout underneath it. The feel is fine for the style but if they could find a way to add some weight here, it would turn this into heaven in a glass. As it is now, it’s pretty close. Love it. Cheers again claaark. You da man.

Opened this the night before my Birthday. Got to celebrate early right? Poured into a Firestone Walker Teku. Thank you TommyGuz!

Appearance: Beautiful, deep brown/black like 80% dark chocolate. Virtually no head with a tiny amount of carbonation coming up to the surface of the bottle. The rim is a very narrow brown with tight bubbles all around.

Nose: The nose is of rich fudge with a hint of bourbon. It smells less like a beer than almost anything I have ever had the pleasure to inhale. Smells like it will truly meet it's world class reputation.

Taste: This has a very strong bourbon barrel character. Whereas the flavor profile of the firestone walker barrel beers remind me of a flagship red blend, very complex and balanced, this beer on the other hand reminds me of a single malt scotch; pure, raw power. 20 seconds after the initial hit of very strong whisky and chocolate there is a strong rush of malty character in the best of ways. This beer is saying that it is pure imperial stout.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel on this is so thick it is chewy. The carbonation is just spectacular and coats the mouth in a very soft blanket of creamy bourbony heaven with a nice hot kick. It is a true delight to drink and I am sorry that not everyone gets the privledge to have this one.

Overall: WORLD CLASS BARREL AGED IMPERIAL STOUT. I thought that I was over this style, but this beer proves that when done right it can be a pleasure to drink. There are so many barrel aged beers that I feel a 4 oz pour is to much. This is a beer where 12 oz is not nearly enough.

Edit- dropped down rating because 2nd bottle was thin. The core reason why I liked this was because of the thick boozy fudge I got out of first bottle

bottle #548

A- Thick black oil, minimal coffee colored lacing with minmal legs. This liquid gums up the glass big time.

S- Dark thick barrel fudge. That makes up 90% of the nose. The rest is burnt raisins, figs, toffee. Straight up dark chocolate fudge with booze. Fantastic

T- Kinda wanted to go higher on the rating, but didn't want to go crazy. Boozy creamy dark fudge chocolate stout. Same ratio as the nose. This is liquid booze brownie. I need more.

M- Extremely creamy and smooth. The minimal carb is not an issue at all, as I feel like you are a few levels short of a brownie blizzard. This brew leaves a very nice glaze around the mouth well after puttin her down the gullet.

O- Top 5 BA stout that I have ever had. Exceptional in all areas.
