"Curt's blend of our new wee heavy, Tenacious Wee and our yet to be named barlewine aged in Pappy Van Winkle barrels for 12 months."

Cask offering at Voodoo served in a barrel room collection snifter. The brew appears a very dark brown to black color with a finger of tan head that holds throughout the duration. Some patchy lace sticks to the glassware. Overall, pretty fantastic retention.

The aroma is quite sweet smelling with vanilla leading the way. Notes of chocolate and toasted grain come through with a kick of bourbon that imparts a mild tangy boozy component. Some caramel and toffee noted are an after-thought.

The flavor strikes with booze upfront. Some roasted grain element before a solvent alcohol kick. Mid-palate are flavors of chocolate, vanilla, toffee and caramel. The aftertaste boasts soft notes of barrel induced coconut.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is boozy and unique. If a wee heavy and barleywine really are what comprimised this blend, consider me super interested in trying those individual brews when they become available. (1,108 characters)

On tap at Voodoo Homestead in Homestead, PA. This is a mix of Tenacious Wee and K13.

Pours a dark tawny brown, with a small amount of head, and basically no lacing.

Smells like caramel, bourbon, toffee, and brown sugar.

I personally don't think this tastes better than the sum of its parts, but it still tastes quite good, anyway. I get more K13 than Tenacious Wee here, with honey, caramel, bourbon, molasses, and brown sugar dominating. This is quite sweet. The bourbon is not overpowering really at all.

This is fairly thick bodied, with a smooth and rich mouthfeel. The carbonation level is pretty low.

Voodoo can't really miss. Both K13 and Tenacious Wee are better than this, but with how good they both are, you really can't have a bad blend anyway. (761 characters)

Philly Beer Week 2014 -- Bainbridge Barrel House

Poured into a round avg size snifter

Appears dark, almost motor oil but with some reddish/brown hints as it's not a stout.

Best smelling beer ever was the consensus at the table. It is on the sweet side with so much malt from the Barleywine and that Wee-heavy all being held together with Pappy

Tastes like heaven. Really, it is on par or better than Bourbon County barleywine and Founders Backwoods Bastard. Maybe if you mixed the two, you would get the taste and flavors of this blend. A bit on the sweet side, all that malt and bourbon add up. ABV well hidden, not hot at all.

Mouthfeel could be a bit thicker, but that would be the only slight improvement I can think of.

OVERALL---top 20 beer in the world, any style I would say. If you are a hop head maybe not, but I am a Malt Head and love bourbon aged anything. This is the best of the best. (905 characters)

After about 2 years if exploring craft beer, I must say, this is the best beer I have ever had. This is a blend if barleywine and wee heavy, aged in pappy van winkle bourbon barrels.

Served in a 8oz pour in a snifter at the brewpub. Went back for seconds.

A: dark dark brown, a shade below black. Low carbonation.

S: bourbon all the way. Pappy van winkle shining through. This smells heavy on the bourbon!

T: wow! Bourbon up front and the whole way through. Malts from barleywine and wee heavy come together in perfect harmony. Slight dark fruit character from aged barleywine I assume. More bourbon!

M: smooth, low carbonation, alcohol sensation is pleasant, not overpowering

O: this beer is to die for. Best bourbon beer I have ever had. Thank you voodoo! You must try this! (782 characters)
