Served in sampling glass at brewpub

A: dark brown, murky

S: pappy van winkle bourbon all the way

T: PVW bourbon dominates. Dark fruit. Moderate carbonation.

M: moderate carbonation. Medium body.

O: this barleywine is to die for. Seek this out and put your life on the line for it. It's worth it !

One of the best beers I've ever had. The hype on Voodoo's barrel program is real.

The beer pours a medium dark copper brown.

The beer has caramel, vanilla, oak, candied sweetness, and toffee in the front. The middle has this medium minus American barleywine hop profile of herbal and woody. Something I rarely like, but in this, it is a perfect match. Then a huge pop of enjoyable bourbon the back. This sweet and mellow, yet slightly alcoholic. Instead of ethanol, it's a high quality bourbon (Pappy in this case) that is rich and succulent.

Better than King Henry for me.
