330 cl bottle into la chouffe snifter
A - good two ginger heas, with rocky bubbles on the top. the body isnt completely opaque, it still lets a bit of light through; the colour of the body is a ruddy dark brown, quite muddy actually. foam is a light tan colour. the only real beef I've got with this brew is that the body colour and opacity is a bit off for my ideal. head lasts a while, and finally settles on a good sized coating.
S - actually quite hoppy, for a quad. after the initial hop kick the malts and fruitiness come on and dominate, only problem is that the nose is very light and has no real punch to it. all of it smells perfectly good, especially when on can get enough of a mix of the yeast and the malts, the fruity bready-ness is quite superb. but this is fleeting and rare, so the score is being bumped down. as the beer warms the booze in conjunction with the yeast and malts become much stronger, and more fitting for a quad.
T - damn, that is some serious boozing power! the initial taste is heavy on the booze and malts. wow, this really tastes like an odd barleywine, not so much a quad. the booze, a real dry almost grain alcohol taste fights with the hops and malts for dominance; the malts present a very nice sweetness that either usually gets drowned out by the bitterness of the hops or the harshness of the booze. I dont know what to think about this brew, I really like it, mainly because it is an easy way to get drunk, and I want it to be a good quad, but the alcohol is just too grating on the tastebuds. the finish is much more tame and actually tastes like a double bock: the exact same maltiness and booziness. the aftertaste is much like that of a x2 bock as well.
MF&D - its all good: enough cabonation, but not particularly drinkable from the booze.

A: loose foam from start to finish....reddish-brown, relatively clear till a few yeasts slipped in....
S: clean ,vodka-like booze... some light, raisin-y fruit.... mellow yet full floral nuance... overall, nice but somewhat subdued
T: super-smooth, velvety-flowery, cookie-ish malt.... brown sugar, granola, background raisin.... superbly mellow and balanced - flavors don't explode, but excellent, nonetheless
M: ethanol-attenuated medium-light body.... subtle, spongy foam wash with each sip... easy-drinking - airy and light around a compact, satiny flow.... fairly restrained swell of boozy warmth midway through each sip
O: one that doesn't bombard the senses with flavor.... gotta let it sit for awhile for it to open up.... even then, dry and quite mellow... nice, if you're digging the subtleties and simply want to quell the swelling in your brain
