12 oz. bottle. Poured into my Ommegang chalice, left it on the kitchen counter, went on BA, and came back 20 minutes later, only to find a still perfect rich, frothy light brown 1 finger head. INCREDIBLE retention!!!! By the looks of it, this could sit here for an hour or 2 with no change. It won't though. Fabulous. Lace is just as sturdy, not shifting or disolving.
Murky, light cola color with slight tinges of ruby. No indication of carbonation.
Immediate biscuity, malty nose, slight alcohol comes through. Almost a coppery nose towards the background. Hmmmm...
Caramely on the tongue, sweet and very smooth. Can't seem to discern any hops. Lusciously smooth. 9% never makes itself known on the tongue. So drinkable. Finishes sweet. Glass is now completely engulfed with thick swirls of lace and still has a 1/2 finger of creamy head. God, I wish all head lasted this long. But I digress...

Pours a deep amber color with a soapy, slightly off white head. Sediment reserved in the bottle, there was not too much. The aroma has Belgian yeast and dark fruits paired with molasses. In the taste, distinct fruity Urthel yeast strain with big dark fruit notes. Date, fig and raisin rule the day here. Bready but also very fruity and quite enjoyable. Dark fruits and sticky brown sugar. Full bodied, well carbonated ale. Finishes clean and a bit fruity with a slightly chalky yeast. Overall, this is a stellar example of a Belgian Strong Dark Ale.

This is a dark and fruity treat. It pours deep brown with tons of foam that quickly dissolves into a sticky, creamy surface. Deep layers of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, sweet malts, and dark fruits like prunes, figs and plums, suck you in. The aroma is just so ripe. I love it.

An alcoholic sweetness and a burst of fruits and raisins make this almost a mix between a bock and a belgian strong ale. It has a medium body, is very smooth & creamy, and its high carbonation make it quite effervescent. Total bummer that they stopped brewing this last year.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottle code K17A7. Pours very cloudy dark reddish brown color with a very nice 2-3 finger dense khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass, with a fair amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of raisin, prune, toast, biscuit, caramel, molasses, nuttiness, and earth. Pretty nice aromas with good balance and weak strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, biscuit, raisin, nuttiness, toffee, molasses, prune, herbal, and earth. Lingering notes of raisin, caramel, biscuit, toast, nuttiness, molasses, and herbal on the finish for a good. Fantastic balance of flavors with nice complexity and robustness. No cloying flavors at all after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong dark ale! Great robust and balance flavors; and very smooth to sip on. Really enjoyed this.

Dark amber, chocolate color and hazy. Unrelenting ivory colored head. Limited lacing.

Roasted, nutty aroma.

Deep, rich caramel malt flavor. Roasted almonds, toffee, rich chocolate and dates. Hint of hickory smoke. Subtle hop. Just a touch of alcohol. Complex and well blended.

Smooth in the beginning and somewhat coarse in the middle and finish. Medium to full bodied and highly carbonated.

Good brew. Pretty complex for a bock and true to the style.

2 out of 3 bottles gushed. Lost about 50ml each time. Poured an opaque medium, walnut brown with a short lasting off-white head.

Odor was weak. Yeasty bread and licorice after deep inhalation.

Tasted very good. Malty and sweet, with a rather heady alcohol note. No perceptible hop taste.

Seemed inadequately carbonated, but that may have a result of the gushing. Rather heavy mouthfeel. Sticky on the lips.
