Poured a medium amber hue with a one and a half creamy white head. There was good retention and decent lacing.

The smell featured a sweet malt with a heavy earthy hop.

The taste consisted of a biting spicy hop and a doughy grain. Some yeast esters.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side for the style.

Overall a superior example of the style. Excellent.

From a growler bought last night.

Pours bright copper with a one-finger, foamy head that slowly descends to a thin, lasting cover. Some broken rings of lacing stick to the glass.

The smell is thin - some caramelish graininess. Almost picking up on some fruitiness.

The smell is of sweet graininess. Enough hops, I suppose, to balance out some of the sweetness, or it might be the thinness of it that keeps the sweetness from becoming too much. Taste is not far from a run-of-the-mill Euro-lager with a touch of caramel. Just a hint of alcohol, making it pretty easy to drink. Rather abrupt, watery finish.

Not crazy about it, but can drink it. Too thin, mild. Some caramelish sweetness tries to do something. A middle-of-the-road beer, if you ask me.

An ok beer overall. The color was very light and the taste was similar. The appearance was more akin to a maibock. The beer had a moderate sweetness with a little caramel flavor. It had a fairly high alcohol content, but you could not taste any of it.

Served as part of a sampler tray at their restaurant. Deep and clear amber color with a very lively and creamy head of foam. The aroma is touched with syrupy sweet malt and a hint of alcohol. The taste is malty and fruity, with pleasant esters of cherry, oranges and pear. Medium bodied and sweet, this is a light and drinkable bock. More so than the authentic German version. Very nice.

The "Knockout" name definitely applies to the overwhelming malt flavor in this beer. Very sweet, but not overly so, and still maintains a nice, light body with above average drinkability.

I'd recommend it for an after-dinner drink, the sweet malt overpowers a lot of your taste buds.

A really big malty beer that is gently sweet. Dark all the way through. Although it is very malty it has a very welcoming light body, not at all bready. Roasted malt aromas greet the nose as the rich roasted malty flavors please the taste buds. This is a great beer that gets better as it warms up.
