Been to Leo's many a time, surprised that I hadn't yet reviewed it. The beer store is practically in a gas-station minus the gas. An entire mid-height aisle is dedicated to beer, sometimes both sides are filled, other times not. Behind this is a series of 5-6 fridges of cold beers. You can mix-and-match 6 packs, sometimes they'll give you discounts if they mess up while ringing up your beer.

The selection is terrific for the area: Alesmith, Thirsty Dog, Rogue, Goose Island, Stone, Hoppin' Frog, Buckeye Brewing, and Bells, to name a few. Staff is friendly, and the beers don't seem to collect much dust. Good beer store, overall.

Good selection for the area which doesn't take much... only place in southern ohio, Huntington area with any selection at all until Ashland area. Prices aren't marked, a lot of stuff has been setting around quite a while, CHECK BOTTLE DATES. selection changes often.
Worth the drive from Huntington WV, bells, founders, dogfish, stone... to name a few of the breweries that cant be found in WV

I stop in at Leo's occasionally to see if they have any beers in stock that I can't get across the river in Ashland and when I stopped in yesterday I found they have picked up some from Sixpoint Brewery and more of a selection from Victory also, as well as from a local brewery, which made me very happy. They have also started taking credit cards, which makes transactions so much easier for me since I rarely carry cash these days. One of the young men working was very excited to see my selections and we talked beer for long enough to annoy the folks behind us who didn't seem nearly as interested in craft beer and the excellent selection as we were. :) I'll be stopping in more often when I'm in the area.

The atmosphere is what I expected it's just your average beer/liquor store, and everytime I've went there has been a pretty good amount of people picking up beer etc, mostly BMC stuff. The location is just right across the river from Huntington, West Virginia which I go to pretty often.

The quality and selection is outstanding for this area with Dogfish Head, Rogue, Stone and many many more. What really made me excited was how fresh all the stone beer was, and back in the fall they had a few cases of Dogfish Head Punkin Ale which was outstanding.

Service was great the employees are really nice and helpful as others have stated it is cash only.

Like was said before it is cash only. Good selection for southern Ohio, great if you are from WV like me (ie Stone, founders, brew dog, dogfish head, kentucky, Hebrew, unibroue, Guiness, Harp, Murphys, Rogue, weiheinstephan, Samuel Smith, . Great deal on $1 glassware, there is more in the back they will dig out if you ask. No make your own 6pks, not allowed by Ohio ABCC apparently, they got in trouble for doing it before. Overall it will be a monthly or so 1 hour road trip for me to check their stock. Staff not particularly beer smart, but very helpful and friendly.

I love Leo's. It's easily the best beer store in the tri-state area (WV,OH,KY). The stock can be a little dated but that is understandable since there are no craft beer distributors to southern Ohio. The owner actually drives a truck to Columbus/Cleveland a few times a year to stock up on craft beer.

The staff isn't really that knowledgeable when it comes to beer but it works in our favor. For instance, they have a table of "create your own six packs". The last time I was there I was able to get a six pack of expedition, two hearted, trois pistoles, maudite, old heathen, old stock ,and troegs doublebock for 6.99. Yea... I got 18.

All beers are available as singles and they sell all glasses for 1.00. Leo's is a godsend in what is mostly a beer wasteland.

My girlfriend currently resides in Huntington. We both have a taste for good beer but have a hard time coming across anything worth while down in Huntington. Thats where Leo's comes in.

A short drive from Huntington is Leo's Carry-out. From the outside it doesnt look like much. It doesnt look like much from the inside actually. Slightly dirty and dusty. The beer is a long isle with warm beer on the sheft to the left and coolers lining the right side.

Average selection as compared to here in Columbus, above average for the area. Unibroue, Columbus Brewing, Great Lakes, Stone, Sam Smith, Victory and actually a few small breweries I've never heard of.

The best part, as mentioned is that it seems that every 6-pack is fair game for singles. You can mix and match just about everything in stock.

Lots of beers looked like they have been sitting there for a while. Most of these this is not a problem, wipe off the dust and you should be good to go.

Another downfall is that they still dont take credit/debit. They have an ATM on premise in case you forget or do not realize.

This is basically the only place in the area worth going to for beer. When ever I am down at my girlfriends and we need something new, this is where we head.

Leo's is located right off route 52 in South Point which is a few miles from Ashland. They have a small parking lot in front of the store.

The store is pretty expansive inside and has a convenience store look about it. The beer is located in the rear of the store and is divided by a cooler section and a shelf section.

Leo's has a pretty good selection of beer. Regional beers like Hoppin' Frog, Thirsty Dog, GLBC and Bell's are mingled with micros like Stone, Alesmith, Victory, etc. There is also a pretty good selection of imports divided by Country (Russia, England, Belgium etc). Some beers are available in singles too. It is evident though that some beers are not turned over as quickly as they should be (a telltale coat of dust).

Service here is reasonably good, the owner asked if he could help me with anything. I have to ding them a bit for not taking credit cards though.

All in all this is a good spot to hit on the OH/KY/WV border.
