I visited Jensen's on my recent visit to Lawrence because of recommendations here on BA. I was interviewing at KU and made sure I had some time to swing by and check it out.
The store is rather small, but towards the back are coolers full of gems. I picked up several beers, due to the mix your own sixer option.
I purchased some Saranac black forest and caramel porter, Flying monkey amber ale, New Belgium blue paddle and 1554, the last bottle of Avery the beast grand cru, and many others. They still had Mephistopheles in, and representatives from New Belgium, North Coast, Rogue, and Pete's Wicked Ale to name a few. Decent import selection included typical stuff, but some good belgians too.
The guy at the counter seemed uninterested, and as though I was bugging him by being in the store. It wasn't until he scanned my bottle of The Beast Grand Cru that he wanted to dialogue a little about beer.
All in all a great beer joint. Definitely worth stopping in if you're in Lawrence. The mix your own sixer option is always a huge plus for me.

Regular stop when I'm visiting Lawrence. You never know what you'll find!
It's a cramped little hole in the wall. Bottles are almost stacked on top of each other. Be careful you don't knock anything over. Like walking into a cramped record store. Great vibes.
Their selection overall is ok. They have the usual micro's that you can get in KS. However, the treats are in the cooler and the shelves. It's basically like your digging for gems at a record store-but with bottles. Finds over the last few months include: 13' Abyss, 06' bottles of Drie Fonteinen lambic, 07' year old bottles of Avery Beast, 07' Left Hand barleywine, etc... I'm not sure if these have been held back and then set out or what, but it's what keeps me going back.
My only concern is that one of the coolers has some moldy bottles. No one likes to look at that.
I've only visited later in the day so the only people are working are college aged guys. Pleasant and helpful but not too informative about the beers. I've heard the owner is great but have yet to run into him.
Overall, worth a stop if your in Lawrence. Make sure to take the time to look through everything.

This is the best liquor store in Lawrence, if you ask me. It's a little hole in the wall with a great beer selection (I hear the wine selection is good too, but I'm not up on wine). The staff is always friendly, helpful, and talkative. You can tell they really enjoy good beer too. The owner, Jeff, appears to strive to bring in new beers and offerings as often as he can. The prices are very reasonable and certainly comperable if not better than other establishments in town. You should definitely stop here if you're coming through Lawrence and looking for some good beer.

Stopped by during a visit to Lawrence after getting a hearty recommendation from the beer-savvy Dr. E.
Jensen's is a micro-store with a macro selection. In my home state of Minnesota, mixing sixers is unheard of--so you can imagine my delight at being able to try a little of this and a little of that from the terrific selection at this fine shop.
Best of all, the affable owner, Jeff, makes buying singles very easy...individual bottles are priced at 1/6 the six pack price, which is downright reasonable (and compelled me to buy more than I normally would). So I loaded up five mixed sixers with New Belgium, Flying Dog, Great Divide, ODell (including the delicious 5 Barrel Ale!), Boulder Beer, and a few others. I am in for a great few weeks of sampling.
I was already an admirer of the Lawrence beer sensibility, but my trip to Jensen's might have raised my impression of this delightful city to a new level.

Jensen's is our local beer establishment. Locally owned and operated unlike C&B and World Market. The place is tiny, no bigger than most people's living room. Stocked with wine and liquor as well. The beer selection is all refrigerated and in the back. Locals are all there incl. New Belgium, Boulevard, and Great Divide. However, they're not always fully stocked, so it rotates what they have in. Decent selection of bombers from Rogue and Great Divide. Most Unibroues in stock. Interesting finds abound including a Dupont cider, some unfamiliar Belgians, and the only place in town that sold SA Imperial Pilsner from which I liquadated most of. Service can't be beat for Lawrence. Run either by the owner or other college students, they will let you know what's coming in, what can be ordered, and when it should arrive. Recommendations are also appreciated, try finding any of that at C&B ha! Also, they DO allow mixing 6-packs of anything but Coopers and Abita due to packaging. Sales are also frequent though their prices tend to be a little higher due to size. Located just a couple blocks from the downtown C&B, I highly recommend!
