Not a big fan of stouts but this one was quite good. Huge tan head that went away rapidly,
Good amount of lacings. Aroma is cocoa and roasted malts. Taste is some coffee, cocoa
Nice roasted malts, bitter hops. Alcohol a bit noticable but O.K.
Pretty well balanced for the style.
Mouthfeel is just right for a Stout.
Drinkability is good.

Pour had a brown foam head over an impenetrable brown body. Scent is pleasantly malty with roasted notes, coffee, a touch of smoke, and a nice bit bitter chocolate. Taste follows nicely -- and as a cream ale it counters the more bitter malt notes. Feel is smooth with a slightly malt bitter aftertaste. A pleasant offering, not too sweet as many creams can be.

Appearance: Pours a rather dark brown body with a bubbly, somewhat brief beige head.

Smell: Smooth scorched roasted barley aroma, predominately. Subtly smoky, subtly roasty. Unsweetened dark chocolate, subtle citrus hop note, even subtler umami accent.

Taste: Dark, roasty malts deliver, as with the nose, sugarless dark chocolate, smoky-tinged roasted malt, yet there's a levity to it. Minimally sweet with a brief flash of dark caramel, cherry cola. Background hop character of citrusy orange-lime. The varying flavors culminate on the light, lightly sweetish finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-leaning edge of medium-bodied. Medium-soft carbonation.

Overall: Pretty easy drinking and works for me as a basic, understated stout.

Love this beer, not a huge fan of overly sweet, sugary stouts. Nice strong malt, roast flavors, no burnt after taste. Finishes hoppy which is a surprise and very welcome. So tired of the same old syrupy flat stouts. Wish it was more readily available.

12oz from a variety pack brought to thanksgiving. Black, with almost no head, and a faint smell which is not at all sweet. Carbonation is sharper than expected, and the consistency seems to me not all cream stout. But there are chocolate and burnt toast flavors. Tastes much more like a dry stout to me.

Well, it's fizzy, but I wouldn't call it creamy. Dark brown brew with a beige foam that lasts better when I poured it in a narrow glass. Not especially aromatic but there is plenty of roast barley in the nose. Malty body with a flavor that grows richer as it warms.

The main flavor is dark roasted malt with a charred finish. Grainy and coarse, though there is a hint of sweet malt on the lips even through to the aftertaste. From the 12 oz bottle in the box of Dick's picks.

Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown color with some rings of light lace. The aroma had some mild roast, sublte sweet caramel maltiness. Lactose comes in after some warming. The flavor leans to the roast and caramel malts first. Creamy lactose sweetness amplifies after some warming just like in the aroma. Mostly sweet imbalanced aftertaste and finishes with a slight syrupy contour. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Gets a bit syrupy slick in the feel. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, imbalanced sweet stout, though I was able to finish the bottle, just gets a bit too syrupy in the feel and finish.

Not a bad stout but not much of a cream feel. Poured from a bottle into a glass. I only point that out because of the self proclamation. Otherwise a great stout.
