Head: small, greasy, cream/tan.
Color: deep, old, oiled mahogany; the dark red-brown almost tends toward black.
Smell: sweet, plummy toffee; chocolate and cherry.
Front: chocolate toffee; some faint fruit; light.
Middle: watery chocolate malt.
Finish: tangy toffee; some peanuts.
Overall: really kind of watery; not much flavor; some decent toffee, fruit and nuts, but... enh.

Licorice with beer overtones. I was trying something new & supporting a local, so had no expectations. I found it refreshing, but hard to put in even a general category. Taste was closer to a black shan:dy than brown ale. Head was more than a typ. good ale. Light smell & light feel. Real interesting, refreshing if hot & humid.
