Brown, slightly murky appearance. Sweet malt with a little sweatsock aroma that turns spicier as it warms. Firm malt flavor with a real nice spice yeastyness. They say it bridges the gap between a pale ale and porter. I say it bridges the gap between an American brown and Belgian double. A thought provoker.

Licorice with beer overtones. I was trying something new & supporting a local, so had no expectations. I found it refreshing, but hard to put in even a general category. Taste was closer to a black shan:dy than brown ale. Head was more than a typ. good ale. Light smell & light feel. Real interesting, refreshing if hot & humid.
