Bull Street gourmet is a neighborhood place that serves sandwiches, salads, coffee, organic food, wine and beer.

A: This place has some decent atmosphere. There are old wooden tables and big racks of wine. Not as polished as other places of this ilk, but charming.

Q: The quality of beer is pretty high, but not on the level of places, to be sure.

S: The staff - at least when I've been in there - is mainly college-aged. I didn't ask for help, but it's hard to say how much help they would've been.

S: An OK selection of beer: Smuttynose, Allagash, Samuel Smith and Rogue to name a few. Also had mainstream beers as well. Not the most dynamic selection I've ever seen, but not bad either.

F: The food - mainly sandwiches - is pretty well done. They have ham and cheese, hot pastrami, club and Italian sandwiches.

V: Food is reasonably priced, but the beer is a little on the pricey side. That kind of markup to be expected from a small place like this.

This is a strange little place. Bull Street Gourmet is a little cafe/corner store that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mostly sandwiches, but they have other food as well(breakfast is alright, but their lunch sandwiches are pretty good).

If you live downtown it is pretty good, but probably not worth the trip if you are driving to buy beer. Great for me because I pass it often while riding my bike.

Beer wise their quality is pretty good, better than your average corner store. I would say that if you life/are staying south of Calhoun St. it is one of the best selections that you find in the downtown area. An example of their stock: six packs: Red Hook(ESB and the seasonal), Rogue (several varieties), Sierra Nevada(porter and pale), flying dog ect. They also stock boddintons, old speckled hen, and Guinness four pack cans. Singles: Rogue(22oz and 12oz), Sam Smith, Blacksheep ales, jubel, hobgoblin, and others. Their prices are kinda high(about a $1 to $1.50 higher than most places for six packs), but unless you are will to drive over one of the bridges it is one of the best bets.

One nice thing about it is there is no extra charge to drink in the establishment. It is a cafe a type atmosphere, but people hang out in the evening and drink beer and wine.

Service is something to be desired. It really is a corner store so don't expect a whole lot of knowledge about the beers. But they can make a good sandwich and coffee. They also have wine, and other snack type items(homemade granola bars and cookies...today they had cupcakes too)
