A: a near pitch black with a quickly disappating head. No visible rising carbonation.
S: There's a sweet milk chocolate element, then there's the alcohol, which has a bit of a pvc piping element to it.
T: The alcohol sits above the chocolate in the taste, in fact the chocolateness is quite minimal, however it is still a bit sweet. It is different, alcohol comes across as a very dull tartness, a bit more like a chemical than a flavor.
M: Kind of chemical tartness. Initially smooth with a delayed soft carbonation sting.
O: Okay, Kind of a strange flavor and I wouldn't jump to it again. But okay.

The body of this beer is a red tinted black and the head is quite attractive, it is a thumb thick and mostly lasting with a frothy, yet creamy mocha colored cappucino-like appearance.
Aroma is laden with vanilla, chocolate, molasses, mild licorice and dried dark fruits. Its mildly stale smelling at first, but that fades leaving a pretty solid aroma.
The first sip is very cocoa/chocolate and vanilla accented. There are mild coffee notes and so it tastes a lot like a flavored coffee. The mouthfeel is nice though a touch thin in the finish. I could see this getting too sweet for some, but to me it is quite tasty and quite enjoyable. A very nice winter treat. There is a mild alcohol burn in the finish along with more intense vanilla/cocoa notes. I like!
