For my money, this is the place in Victoria to try the whole gamut of good BC Craft Beers plus it has a both an open bright side, a nice long bar, and cozy pub part, and even a patio so it's the place no matter what the mood or weather.
55 Beers on tap. The list is posted on line: http://garrickshead.com/draught/
NOTE: not sure if this is always the case, but you won't find any of the local brewpub beers on tap (ie. Swans, Spinnakers, Moon Under Water).
The service was a kind of slow and inattentive but when we were finally served it was friendly.
Music (weekend afternoon) was edgy indie rock which the staff all seemed to like.

Recently rennovated with 44 beers on tap. This is defintiely the place to go in Victoria. There was great local representation from the like of Phillips, Driftwood, Van Island and Hoyne with 3-6 taps each, including seasonals in most cases. As well they had an assortment of other BC beer (Parallel 49, Tree), two US craft taps (Elysian, Ninkasi), a Unibroue tap and others. About 5-6 of the taps were macro (Sleeman, Coors, Canadian, etc.) and of course there was Guinness.
Kegs turn over quickly. Over my 3 days in Victoria (with vists each day) they had seasonal taps from Driftwood, Phillips and Ninkasi change along with a few others. Was lucky to find the likes of Driftwood Twenty Pounder and Elysian Savant IPA on tap.
Seating with a little hard to come by at times and the atmosphere was pretty good too. Bartenders were all great - knowledgeable about the beer and friendly.
Didn't have any food.

A fine little pub with a few too many TVs for my liking. A good, smaller selection of micros on tap and a genuine-feeling atmosphere (a little less put-on feeling than either Swan's or Christie's, the other two pubs I visited in Victoria this week). Nicely situated in Bastion Square, but forget the (extremely narrow) patio if your party is more than two people. Service was reasonably efficient, if aloof.
By BA criteria alone this would seem to rate lower, but my overall impression of the Garrick's Head is that it was my favourite of the three, the one that felt most comfortable and real. I was well pleased with this place.

Neat little pub attached to the Bedford Regency hotel in Victoria. Enter through big metal door via the hotel, or by a nice enterance round the corner in Bastion Square. Wood flooring, nice wood burning fire place. Sort of a frontier take on the British pub. Quaint, but not much going on for decoration. Not a lot of stuff to look at.
Lunchtime service is prompt and friendly. Beer selection is quite good. Mostly island micros and craft, with some other BC micros and Canadian macros and of course, Guinness and Strongbow.
On-tap at my visit where several offerings from Van. Island, Phillip's (including a brew done for Garrick's Head), Lighthouse and Russell Brewing from Surrey.
Food is well done. Selection is pub fare, but often it is interepreted a little more on the flavourful side. Pricing is a little bit higher on some items compared other places, but still is within a reasonable range.
