Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a hazy, coppery amber with a half finger off-white head that dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, slightly spicy and earthy. Flavor is mild biscuit male with hints of caramel, rather subdued, but finishing with a very pleasant sweet, lightly caramel and lightly hopped finish. Enjoyable lingering flavor. Medium bodied. A pleasant, mildly sweet malty pale ale. I did not have this with a meal, but this would be a great accompaniment to dinner, as the flavors are well rounded but not intrusive.

Color is brownish-amberish with some decent foam if you pour recklessly. Moderate carbonation and an odd flabby, thick mouthfeel. Odd muddy smell.

Gummy, resiny, and apparently lacking in hops. There is a little bitterness like you might expect from elderly nutmeg. A candy tang of toffee and butter to complete the peculiarity. This is so much more like an English Old Ale than any pale ale ever invented yet. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at 99 Bottles in Federal Way for $4.76.
