Just picked up a growler of there newest batch. Not bad. the claim it is a 9.6% on there board but after a full growler not sure it really is. When cold first sip is pretty good. Nice bitter tasted with a grapefruit and hint of orange. Gets sweat quick if you let it sit for a bit. Overall not bad. It's in my driving route so when the Dude is around i Abide.

On tap at Barley and Hops

A- Dark amber color with a finger of of white head. Great lacing.

S- Pale malt and citrus hops.

T- Bitter hops up front. Dank, and more hempy than citrusy. Some orange notes. Sweet caramel malt in the middle. Finish is bitter with some alcohol presence.

M- Feel is thick and chewy with a medium level of carbonation.

O- A tasty, but somewhat predictable DIPA. Good, but there are so many other locals which I would reach for first.

Serving type: on-tap

On tap at Stone

A: Appears slightly hazy golden orange with a fizzy white head.

A: Aroma is sweet grapefruit flesh with some bitter rind and a little pine. Malt is bready. Somewhat muted all around.

T: Flavor is sugary sweet up front, almost candied, with notes of grapefruit, orange, and subtle lemon. I think there's some sweet peach in there. A distracting astringent character kicks in midpalate, and carries through the finish, it's seemingly augmented by the strong alcohol profile. Malt is caramel and bready at times. For 7.2%, there is a lot of alcohol flavor.

M: Light medium body with upper moderate carbonation. Mouthfeel is sticky and somewhat astringent.

Overall: Merely okay. At 7.2% it's on the border of single and double IPA, and it's a double in name and alcohol flavor only, really. Call it a single IPA, mute that alcohol flavor, and tend to that astringency, and this would benefit greatly.

Serving type: on-tap

On-tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad

A: The pour is a cloudy orange-amber color with a nice white head and some mild lacing.

S: Hmm this is probably the lightest nose on a DIPA that I've ever experienced. Subtle pine and citrus, otherwise it's faint bread notes.

T: The flavor is similarly bland. I pick up some light citrus (grapefruit, for the most part) and a moderate bitterness. Some bread and caramel malt sweetness, too.

M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation.

D: Not one of Oceanside's better beers. I was expecting to enjoy this one, but found myself not doing so.

Serving type: on-tap
