I've been hitting this place a lot more than Old West lately because it is located closer to home. The store has more of a warehouse setup than a store, but that is not really a big deal. They have added the bar and tasting area since Rocky Mountain Brewery has stood up and adds a lot to the location. All of the staff is very knowledgable and helpful. They made a wort chiller for a friend of mine and I have taken home a few growlers filled with RMB brew. Overall this place has an atmosphere of more than beginner level proficiency.
They also host a monthly food/beer pairing dinner and seem to be more involved in local events.
Would definitely recommend this place.

On February 1, 2007 I was in Colorado Springs and decided to check out the local homebrew shops. I started with, My Homebrew Shop. I found it a little odd that it was tucked back in and industrial park but I found it even weirder that it was in the same building as a radiator repair shop.

Upon entering the building I was warmly greeted. I was also asked if I needed any help just browsing I replied “no.” It took me about 60 sec. to make my way thought the stores 3 isles. They had little to offer and seemed very unorganized. They did have “fresh” grains about 15 or so varieties. They also had little to offer in the way selection of hops or yeast.

It seems that they are more interested in helping you brew on premises than they are selling you supplies. So I would have to say there are better homebrew shops in Colorado Springs.

Everything here is of the best quality. It seems a little sparse when you walk in but you just need to ask anyone there and there is abundant knowledge in each person there. Ask for Duane for any of the really sticky questions (he's the owner and brew meister extraordinaire).
Staff knows all their hop types and they have most of them in leaf format so if you are really picky you don't have to worry about the pellets.
They also have some fresh yeast cultures in liquid which again for any brewing aficionados is a great plus.
Stop in and check it out.
(Duane maybe moving the place and opening it anew with a brewery extension)
