This is "the" Irish pub in Santa Barbara. Everyone shows up in this huge, barn-like beer bar on St.Patty's Day. On usual days it's only sparsly populated, partly cuz of it's size but also cuz it's off the main drag where there's tons of other bars. The four pool tables and one dart board are usually taken up by UCSB students while the main bar and dining area will have a few scattered older folk hanging out together. The stage, with piano and all, is always empty every dang time I'm there.

There's a wide range of liquor. The beer selection could be more impressive, but they have all the Irish standards like Guinness, Murphys and Harp. I think they might have Beamish. Recently Dargan's held a "grand opening" for a local brewery, Telegraph, which just opened in town here.

It's not my favorite place, but I'd choose it over many other's here in town, cuz no where else can you get a fish & chips or Shepherd's Pie with your Irish stout. But for a real cozy neighborhood bar with blue collar, friendly customers try the Brit pub across the street, the Press Room. (1,076 characters)
