Bought at Liquor Shed. No dating.

It pours pitch black with a great head of foam and lacing. Looks are top notch.

Smells of molasses, caramel, chocolate, roasted malt.

The taste has all of that but doesn't seem very vibrant compared to the smell. Kinda blah.

Good enough mouthfeel.

One and done, I reckon.

Light on the palate and sweet, just as I expect a Baltic porter to be. Some nice chewy molasses in there too.

its crazy to me that these guys and the incredible beers they make are still flying under the radar. they are all so original and good, i wonder how that can be. i have had my bottle of this baltic porter for a long time, not sure the date, but any benefits that would accrue from time in the cellar have surely been gained by now. not as dark on the pur as expected, a reddish hued brown, raisin colored, with a bubbly soda looking head on it, pretty and uncommon color to this. the aroma is nice, dried and concentrated, like amarone wine, with a sweet plum and date character, dried fruit sweetness, vibrant yeast that is hard to place, and a heap of dark grains that add additional sweetness and depth to the nose, molasses, fig, brown sugar, soft spice. the flavor matches the nose, lots of dried fruit to this, and a very cool grain complexion thats not quite as dark as most baltic porters, it doesnt get into the heavy roast and char, stopping instead somewhere in the chocolate range, which is amazing with all the fruity notes here, almost elements of a belgian quad or something, at least from a grain standpoint. i taste cola or even dr pepper, crazy. its hard to tell if this really is a lager, which i think is what makes a baltic porter baltic, but this isnt dry and yeasty in that sense, instead it almost has a little sharpness to it, warmer fermented it seems in any event, but super flavorful and compatible with the rest of the beer, whatever it is. nice carbonation, and a long finish. i like it being lighter bodied, and i dont mind what sweetness is still left after the swallow, wet tobacco or shisha, cocoa, raisin. amazing stuff that has benefited from cellaring i would think. really high on these guys right now!

Weird bottle format. Says it's a pint and 12.4 ounces. Interesting.

Poured into a porter glass, this thing looks beautiful. Wonderfully chewy and frothy mocha-colored head over a deep brown pouring beer that settles ebony black. 5

Aroma is nice too. Dark fruit, brown sugar, floral yeast, raisin and grapey notes. Molasses. Well-rounded and attractive to my nostril piece. 4

Flavor doesn't initially do much for me. Feels kind of light in flavor and what I do get is cola-like. There's dark bread and dark malt and light molasses alongside a pervasive yeasty feel. I'm okay with the flavor but just don't love it. 3.25

Feel is more of a disappointment to me. So thin and light. I guess I expect a fuller, richer and creamier feel from this style of beer where as this beer is thin, light, heavy on the yeast presence and has some soda-like qualities. 3

My introduction to this brewery and it's not the standard-bearer. I'll have to see what else they do that might be more noteworthy.

Appearance - This beer pours a deep black letting absolutely no light through, It poured with a 3 finger mocha head which took a good while to fade and still leaves a thick enough layer of foam. This is a beautiful looking beer.

Aroma - Burnt malts, Roasted nuts, Coffee, Chocolate, toffee, and some sweet fruits like banana. Very nice Balitc aroma.

Taste - The flavor has a very roasty up front taste with burnt malts, roasted nuts, expresso, followed by milk chocolate and again some banana at the back of the mouth, there is also a slight amount of earthy hop perceivable throughout. Some people may find it slightly too sweet but for me it hit that "sweet spot" pun intended where the flavor profile meshes very well.

Feel - The body is pretty light, Definitely not AAL light but its close, The carbonation is silky smooth and the beer goes down really easy.

Overall - I Really am enjoying this beer, I think TDD did a great job with this recipe the nose look and taste are all killer examples of a baltic porter. the feel leaves a little to be desired but it wasn't a deal breaker that's for sure.
