600ml bottle. An apparent ode to a recently passed character (?) from the local medieval reenactment game called Bicolline, which takes place near the brewery.

This beer pours a slightly hazy medium golden amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, tightly foamy off-white head, which leaves some decent snow rime lace around the glass as it slowly sinks away.

It smells of grainy, somewhat biscuity pale malt, fruity hops - of the orchard persuasion, mostly, all peach pits and dried cherries - a touch of lemon cleanser, and further weak grassy, weedy hops. The taste is more biscuity, bready, grainy pale malt - very British, with a new world crispness, some now quite subtle spiced apple and wet pine edginess, a hint of dry ash, and more earthy, weedy hops.

The carbonation is a tad perky and fizzy, the body just on the light side of medium weight, and smooth in a soft drink left out on the counter too long sort of way. It finishes on the dry side, as the malt comes down to play with the lingering, generally noble-esque hops.

A decent APA, one which eschews the typical mantra of "mo' hops, mo' money", in favour of a more moderated hop and grain interplay. I'm actually more reminded of a laid-back ESB, than anything overtly pale ale in nature. Nonetheless, tasty and enjoyable, the kind of beer that just slides down way too easily, post-contemplation, or, as it seems, pre-Enlightenment.

A surprisingly hoppy beer, much like an IPA, and arguably one of their best. WVSRT tap takeover by Trou Diable, and enjoyed in the company of the brewer and owners. Soapy head on dark orange body. Big IBU and nicely drinkable. The hops are balanced and not distinct other than having a citrus characteristic.

Nice golden straw appearence. Good head retention.
Smell of floral hops and a hint of fruit.
Very smooth and light. There is a taste of some fruit flavours, but it is nice and subtle and leaves me wanting more.
The mouthfeel is great, the fruity flavours are prevalent in the aftertaste which makes it easy going down.
Overall the beer is a definite winner, doesn't pull any punches, smooth from start to finish. Great on-the-deck-in-the-summer beer.

Draft: Poured an orangey color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma consists of floral hoppy notes with light citrus notes. Taste is quite hoppy with some nice green floral notes with light citrusy undertones and some light dry caramel malt also showing. Body is about average with good carbonation. This one is drinking nicely and seems to be closer to and IPA.

5/31/2013 @ Mondial de la Biere, Montreal, 4 oz. sample. Hoppy nose, light in color and body, tasty and good. The MacTavish was the best in show at the festival, in my opinion, followed by Dieu du Ciel! Penombre. Truly an excellent beer and I'm glad i bought a bottle to bring home.

8/15/2013, back home in NY... make that damn glad i brought a bottle home! Wow, gorgeous yellow golden color, citrus hops on the nose, two-finger rocky white head, mouthfeel just a shade lighter than medium, slight grain taste up front with a kiss of grapefruit, big hop bitterness at the back end.

Sorry to see this one go... Guess it's time to drive back to Montreal and pick up a case.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a stemmed tulip glass.

A: A nice straw color with a hint of an orange hue and very clear; 1-2 fingers of white head that settled quickly and left a decent amount of lacing.

S: Lots of spicy hops in that nose; black pepper, orange peel and very floral. No real malt or citrus character.

T: As the nose predicted, this is a dry, spicy APA. The same notes are coming through on the palate; lots of spice and bitter orange peel; maybe a bit of spruce. There is a bit of malt backbone but not much and the finish is long and bitter.

M: Medium body and carbonation; maybe due to the dryness, but it feels almost resinous.

O: An interesting APA; it has minimal malt character and is very spicy and bitter.

600ml bottle from March Omni QC for 7$ taxes in

Appearance - Clear golden/amber with an average size fizzy off-white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some decent lacing. The head lasted for around 3-4 minutes.

Smell - Hops, malts, grapefruit, lemons, grassy notes

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste caramel, malts, and hops. There is also some grapefruit, lemons, and apricots. It ends with a malty yet fruity hoppy bitter aftertaste.. and the hops linger.

Overall – Can't find a date on the bottle (which is a very nice bottle by the way) so I'm not sure how fresh this is, but it has a nice citrusy/hoppy punch. It is a well done beer that could fool me for something that came from the states. If this were available in 6-packs at a lower price point, I'd drink this more often.

Appearance: It has a nice hazy golden color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves great lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of floral hops, some pine, citrus, grass and some bready/grainy malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has alot of floral hops, citrus, a piney/grassy bitterness, some bready malts and a touch of caramel.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a very nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas. Good balance and very drinkable.

Beer is a slightly cloudy golden orange colour. Moderate white head fades steadily, leaves a lot of lace.

Nose is really quit nice. Fruity, with a peach scent.

Fairly hoppy in flavour, with some citrus and tropical fruit. Orange, peach and some grapefruit. There is a malt presence, a bit bready and some slight sweetness. Nice and quite flavourful.

Medium bodied, highly carbonated. Rather irritating.

Overall, nothing unusual but enjoyable and more than solid.
