The outside of this place is enough to entice anyone inside, let alone a beer fan. The inside looks as you would think if judging by the outside...darker, original woodwork, multiple levels and rooms.

The main bar area is pub-like...large "L" shaped bar lined with a huge selection of taps. Some seating at tables, a few bar games (darts, touch screens). There are a few coolers behind the bar that house the bottle selections.

The other eating areas include a main dining area, both upstairs and downstairs and an outdoor area, which is very nice...weather permitting!

The highlights of this place are the food, Belgian Beers, and glassware. I have eaten here a few dozen times and have yet to get a bad meal. Highly recommended the Hop Devil Potato Soup!!! Although Belgian beers are not my personal favorite, you have to admire their selection...especially the drafts. And no matter what you order, you will get the proper glassware, if not the brewery's glass itself!

The prices are a little above average for the area, but you get what you pay for. I wouldn't stop in here for a six pack to go, but great for an evening out.

The Sharp Edge Creekhouse is a quaint establishment on the edge of Crafton, PA. Beer selection is great with over 30 beers on tap and numerous others bottled and in cans. With daily beer specials, there’s always a good value. The mystery beer allows you to try something new with a completely blind tasting for a lower price. My only negative is that the food prices can be a little high if you’re just looking for a quick bite. However, if a sit down dinner is what you’re looking for, then the prices are very reasonable.

Last Sunday, a sunny Sunday here in NW PA, was so pleasant that we decided to go on a 90 minute drive for lunch. We arrived at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse (I always thought it Sharp Edge Creekside) about 1400, just in time for the ½ off on draft Belgian brews. When we arrived the place was nearly empty – just three other couples. On other trips the place has been nearly full to packed – no waiting this trip! We sat in the downstairs dining area, off the bar, but with a decent view of the taps. Our waitress was also acting as bartender but, due to the low population density, service was excellent. In fact, within 45 minutes, we were the only customers. We have been here many times over the last eight years, and service has always been good to excellent downstairs – the upstairs dining area is more problematic due to the steep narrow staircase and the distance from the bar and kitchen.
The food is usually excellent, mostly being bastardizations of Belgium stuff altered for ‘Murrican tastes – I usually get the Belgium burger which is an excellent blend of ground lamb and sirloin, spiced, on some type of roll (Who cares about the bread – not I!) with a side of pomme frites with garlic aloli, head and shoulders above their regular fries or sweet potato fries. I’ve tried other things on their menu, but I keep coming back to the Belgium burger. They routinely have mussels for you filter feeder freaks.
But back to the beer! The selection of Belgian brews both on tap and bottled seems to be slowly declining – the first few trips we made were prior to a trip to Belgium in order for me to more familiarize myself with what to expect in Brussels. They currently have 45 taps but only about 12 were overflowing with goodness from Belgium. They also have a large selection of local PA beers as well as some German, Brit, and a few other common countries – nothing too exciting. However, on this trip I consumed draft Rodenbach foederbier, served in over filled 10 oz tulips. Wonderful! So damn good, in fact, that I can’t read my notes to review it. Mrs. Lizard drove home.
We will be visiting again.

Endearing short L-shaped bar with a Euro feel to the interior. Pleasing Victorian exterior, like an architectural layer cake with red icing (awnings). Great happy hour vibe (and you can't shake much at half-price Belgian crafts), plus the late night vibe has a good bustle on Friday and Saturday nights. Lots of great taps that are bountiful enough to not hate on what might be slow rotation. Especially, the Belgians and other imports; they're known to remain rooted for a month plus. Too many staples in those categories.

Crafts get a new face at a decent rate. Usually, nothing too exceptional, but they're getting better about bringing in one-offs. Prices are still outrageous. Belgian draft markup is highway robbery, and the bottles in the cooler are mostly flagrantly high. Freshness is maintained well. Only been burned a handful of times in ten years of frequenting this locale. Lines are nearly pristine; all Belgians taste great from the tap. Some cellar offerings will tempt you, despite high price tags.

Bar staff is great. Very knowledgeable, more so than the wait staff. Food is excellent. Great burgers, thin-crust pizzas, and house-made soups. Monthly feature menus have awesome selections; notably Belgianfest and Oktoberfest. Their mussels are hit or miss.

Besides value, this is a great neighborhood beer bar with a love for everything Belgian. Recommended. Meet me here!

First to put my visit into perspective. My friends and I visit a different city each year to watch the NCAA Mens Hockey tournament. My job is to locate the best beer bar in the city, find an affordable place to stay nearby, and then figure out how to make it to the arena for the games when were not sampling great beers.

The Creekhouse fit the bill in spades!

The only thing to add from the many positive reviews was they now have a Prix Fixe 3-course meal for a scant $18. The first night I started with the Wild Boar Meatloaf entre, Buffalo Bites appetizer, and polished it off w/ a chocolate stout w/ my Belgian pudding dessert. All delicious.

We were in town for four days and spent much of it at The Creekhouse.

And one other perk, the "Internet Jukebox" was the best I'd ever experienced. As a an old rocker from the 60's and 70's, the selection of Frank Zappa, the Mothers of Invention, Root Boy Slim. and the Electric Prunes was simply heaven for me and my friends.

The staff, from the waiter/waitresses, bartenders, to the management were all fantastic.

This is one of the best places in Pgh to get a ful line of Belgian brews. They provide a lot of Beglians on tap as well as in the bottole. Inaddition, they offer plenty of non-Belgian beers from the US, Canada, Germany, Ireland...etc. Brooklyn, Victory, Troegs, Penn, Ommegang, Weyerbacher, Southern Tier...etc It is essentially a great place with a tremendous selection. For the whale hunters, you are not going to find those, but you are going to find a huge variety of brews across numerous styles. In other words, it has a fantastic selection, albeit it a tad on the pricier side.

Quality: I have never had a problem with the quality of the brews here. The taps are always clean and the bottled beer is fantastic.

Service: Always friendly and attentive service. The bartenders are quite knowledgable about lots of brews and styles.

I really enjoy going to the Creekhouse for beers. It is a little higher priced than some other venues, but it is certainly worth it for me to hit this place up from time to time.

Sharp Edge is one of my favorite places. Basically a house sitting a creek, the bar has a great atmosphere with a bunch of regulars coming in, talking it up with the bartenders and asking for their suggestions. Tons of taps with an emphasis on Belgians, but there is always something great on tap when it comes to American Craft beer. The bartenders know their stuff and are more than willing to help you make a choice. Food is pretty good, as their burgers and pizzas are pretty tasty. If you aren't careful when you go here, you will spend a crapload of money on beer and food. Their bottle selection is way overpriced and I never have, nor never will purchase any bottles from here. However, this place has some great deals, with half off Belgians everyday during their happy hour, plus half off their craft selection every Wednesday and random food deals at times. Overall, come for the great deals on fantastic beer.

A great place for both food (dining) and beers, especially Belgian beers. There are other places around the city if you're looking for massive on-tap selections (like FatHeads, Smokin' Joes and HopHouse) but for Belgian on-tap this place can't be beat. There's a great selection of fine Belgian beers, both on-tap and bottled.

Dozens of US micro's and craft beers plus more beers from a worldwide selection are offered in bottles. Prices can get a bit high compared to other local venues.

Food- outstanding and a great selection of interesting fare.

Service-- fantastic, attentive and generally very beer-savvy.

Ambience is great, somewhat quaint for dining and the bar is rather nice in its own separate room.

Parking is adequate for the amount of clientele' the building can hold.

Sharp Edge is the best place in Pittsburgh to find Belgium anything. Beer, inspired food, you name it. The atmosphere isn't too bad. There a nice cornered bar with lots of seats and a nice dining area downstairs. The upstairs dining area is also pretty nice and much more expansive than downstairs. There is a back patio which can't be beat in the spring and summer.

The beer selection is quite good, with everything from TONS of Belgium beers to American micro brews. My only qualm is that the prices are a bit high for the draft. And the prices are even more high for the bottles. They really have a serious markup going for their bottled beers. When I saw Nemesis for $12 a bottle, I thought that was a bit ridiculous. But when I saw Southern Tier Mokah for almost $19, I thought it was priced ridiculously high considering I can get that same bottle for $10 at other places.

I realized that I haven't updated my review for a few years and a lot has changed since then. They continue to excell at providing the best selection of beers on tap anywhere in the area (particularly Belgiums) but the biggest improvement the past few years has been the food. It has gone to second-rate to first-class. Everything from pizzas to appetizers to sandwiches to entrees to desserts are now fantastic. I have been here on many occasions over the past couple of years and since they've changed their menu I can't think of one thing I've had to eat that has dissapointed me. Gret beer, great food, great atmosphere. What else can you ask for?

Been to all Sharp Edge locations many times, the Creekhouse is one I visit the most (out of convenience and preference).

First off, the Belgian selection here cant be beat. Every visit brings a new handful of not only beers I've never had, but sometimes never heard of. Most taps are served in their respective breweries glassware, a nice added touch. Would LOVE to see more gueuze/lambic/etc on tap though.

The bottle selection is pretty good, and rotates constantly, but it seems they get beers in a good couple weeks-month after other area beer bars, same with domestic taps.

Service is overall good. Servers are well informed about beer names and characteristics, just every once in awhile you will get a moody or somewhat slow server but that happens everywhere and is few and far between here.

The restaraunt itself has a nice laid back and cozy atmosphere, but the bathrooms could use some work. Small and always a bit dirty.

The food is just as stellar as the Belgian selections, there are many staples which I would gladly eat again and again, but they fudge that up by offering a nice seasonal rotating menu with really diverse and interesting dishes that I just always feel the need to try. Rarely am I ever underwhelmed by the food.

Overall, an outstanding eatery/drinkery in the area...one of if not the best.

I usually try to stop here at least once on my business trips to the Pittsburgh area. I've been to the Creekhouse several times but at their Friendship location only once. The Creekhouse is a pretty cool place, located in an older "victorian" style house just under the bridge, about 15 minutes from Moon Run and Robinson Township where several hotels are located. If you visit their website, and have never been to one of their locations, don't let the online information sway you one way or another. The beer list is WAY more extensive than what they're posting online. H*ll, these folks are ranked among the TOP Belgian beer places in the U.S. for a GOOD reason. I highly recommend Sharp Edge being a must stop if you're traveling through Pittsburgh. I've never had a bad meal at the Creekhouse, the food is superb, the selection is even better, and the people serving the beer know EXACTLY what they're pouring (that's important to me). I'm blown away by the collection of glassware at this place - expect to have the beer poured in the appropriate and proper glassware. Never fails, I order an obscure beer on tap, and it comes in glassware from the brewer!!! Holy $%#^! This is a cool place. Seek it out.

I have been to three of the four Sharp Edges and this one is probably the coolest. Just a cool looking place with a great selection of beer.

A--Really neat inside. Probably not as spacious as you would think from the outside but never have had a problem finding a seat at the bar.

Q--its the Sharp Edge, high quality

S--Very nice and attentive. Laid back.

S--Excellent. Great bottle selection at this one. As with all of the locations, Belgian selection is pretty predictable and usually void of Quads and Saisons. Boo!

F--Excellent food. Great burgers and Pizza.

We fought our way through insane rush hour traffic to get to this place at the start of our most recent visit. It was well worth it.

The restaurant has a nice broken in feel to it. We sat in the front dining room since there were only single seats open at the bar. I preferred the look and feel of the bar but hunger called. The bar has about a dozen seats, with a nice tap lineup behind and a few coolers to the right. The dining room was nice if overly bright.

Beer selection is quite nice with a strong emphasis on Belgian taps with some nice American crafts mixed in. I had a Nosferatu on tap for the first time; my wife had the house tripel, which was quite tasty.

Food was quite tasty. Service was very good at the table, rather leisurely at the bar. All in all a great stop we will make again.

Pretty interesting atmosphere, seems like an old mansion or something. Has a home like feel, rather than your typical bar feel. As many others have said, it is primarily a Belgian beer bar. Even though that is not my style, and I prefer American Craft brews, I'm not going to hold that against them.

They always have at least 20 beers on tap, mostly Belgian. Although, they usually do have a few craft brews on tap, usually which are excellent. They have a few coolers in the place, stocked with a ton of Belgians, and a very good selection of crafts.

The Mystery Beer, which they only tell you the style, not the name or the brewer, is a cool idea. However, I have found these choices to be less than exciting in the past.

They do have really great food. Somewhat pricey for the Burgh, yet the quality is much better than most other beer bars.

I have always sat at the bar. The bartenders are mostly friendly, and extremely knowledgable. The owner is a huge Belgian nut, obviously, and plans annual trips to Belgium, pretty cool.

Visited for dinner 25 July, 2009:

After checking into our downtown hotel, we bridged "the Mon" and found W Steuben easily enough, a climbing, snaking drive through some character-filled neighborhoods. We arrived shortly at the Creekhouse (thanks iPhone/Google Maps!) at almost exactly the same time as our friends melbatoast93 and mheisler76. Playing 'host', they led us to the awning-covered back deck, where we enjoyed some remarkably comfortable late-July weather.

Catching up with friends you haven't seen in three years and perusing a bulky beer and food menu are tough things to juggle, but we somehow managed. Let's just say, if you love Belgian beer, you will L-O-V-E Sharp Edge. Very few pubs on the West Coast (a couple in San Francisco or Seattle are the exceptions) would dream of devoting 20+ taps to only Belgians. There are other drafts, too, ranging from UK/German favorites to East Coast all-stars from the likes of DogfishHead, Victory and Bell's. Bottle lists are just as impressive: well over 50 Belgians, loads of US representation and a smattering from points near and far. Overall, a terrific cross-section of all beers; my only knock (if you can call it one...I'm still giving a '4.5') is an imbalance toward the Belgian styles that could turn off a non-Belgian-loving drinker...and the fact that a couple beers that we requested were tapped out (menu is a laminated card, with only a handful of new brews/specials listed by the server and on a chalkboard inside).

I picked a draught pour of the 'Over the Edge' Belgian IPA, brewed especially for Sharp edge by our friends at Brouwerij Van Steenberge - crisp, flavorful and a sneaky 9%. Rather than a specialty glass, it came in a pint with a quirky little cartoon. My second beer was a fresh Bell's Two-Hearted, one of my all-time favorite IPAs - no special glass needed. Most other draughts came in proper glassware, including my wife's Gouden Carolus and (later) Gulden Draak.

Our order of 'Mediterranean Nachos' arrived as quickly as our first beers; beware, they are addictively good! Spinach and artichoke dip, melted cheese, olives, fried pita chips...drool... My entree was the 'Drunken Sirloin Grinder', which was good, but not nearly as good as the 'Belgian Burger' my wife picked...I had to steal a bite or two when she wasn't looking after the first one she graciously offered. Note to self: do not choose the fries, choose the onion petals. Menu is massive, suffice to say there's something for everyone here.

Service was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable about the beer (excellent job, Shelley!). Vibe was good on the patio, a lively din, strings of lights aglow. Only ventured inside the place a couple times, explored the bar and upstairs for a few minutes. It's a nicely restored old home(?), high ceilings and plenty of interesting nooks and crannies to tuck booths within. The bar itself is a short 'L', displaying an army of taphandles and legions of glassware; several coolers at the far right end hold the assortment of chilled bottles. Chalkboards above promote current and upcoming beers and events; TVs dot some walls, others get a covering of advertising (which takes the classiness down a bit but raises the 'local bar' standard at the same time). Whenever we're in Pittsburgh again, we'll go back (especially during the 1/2 price weekday Happy Hour - otherwise beer prices are a bit high).

A very likable and comfortable neighborhood place that's a MUST for a visiting BA...for all the great pubs in Portland, I'd gladly trade a few to get Sharp Edge to open a far west location...whole-heartedly recommended.

PS: We picked up a mixed 6-pack on the way out: 3 Lion Stouts (2 for us), a Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout, a Fuller's London Porter and a Baltika #6 as a birthday gift for a skeptical-but-willing father-in-law. He liked/loved every one of 'em!

This is quickly becoming my favorite place to relax with food and beer in Pittsburgh. I have to confess that I haven't ventured much into Belgian beers yet, but when I do I can only imagine my enjoyment of Sharp Edge rising.

The quality and service here is exceptional. I've interacted with numerous different people and everyone always seems willing to talk about beer and make recommendations.

The selection is well-known and is especially good if you enjoy Belgians. They have about 20-25 Belgian taps, then maybe 6-7 other international taps, usually with something from Fuller's, and finally maybe 7-8 American micro taps, sometimes including American micro takes on Belgian styles (last time I was there I had Weyerbacher Zotten).

The food has always been very good, but I can only speak to the late night menu. The value is outstanding, and honestly, this is the primary reason that my friends and I continue to return to Sharp Edge. If you are visiting Pittsburgh, this is a great location for a late night beer or two with some quality, cheap bar food. The Belgian style pizza is awesome, and the beer cheese made with Victory Hop Devil is amazing too. The atmosphere here also slaughters anything that the Southside has to offer. If you are closer to the city, the one in East Liberty is great as well. if I were having friends in, I'd go to a Pirates game and then follow it up with a trip to the Creekhouse.

I was in Pitt for two nights on business and put together a condensed itinerary of the best beer stops in the city. Sharp Edge Creekhouse made my itinerary for beers and dinner on night one.

The beer selection is more Belgian focused which is fine. Overall, I felt the offerings were well below what I would expect from an A+ rating.

After I had the house Belgian, I struggled mightily to pick a second beer. They don't print the beer menu to keep up with the actually beer selection (like a prime beer bar should). After trying to order three different beers from my server in the dining area, I had to walk into the bar to see what was available. My colleague went with the "mystery beer" where they tell you what it's like but not the name, brewer, or style. Interesting concept but not one I'm willing to take a chance on when only drinking two beers.

I settled for a hopslam which you can get on draft at many good beer bars in the Great Lakes region. I was really hoping for a Voodoo or East End offering and was very let down.

I had the potato soup in a bread boll which was pretty good and the fish tacos (house selection) which were not very good. My colleague had steak medallions which he struggled to finish.

My beer experience at Bocktown the following night was exponentially better than Sharp Edge.

Cool spot! Thanks for the recommendation Pittsburgh BAs!

Great big old building, tons of taps, and VERY friendly wait staff. It was a Friday afternoon, and kind of quiet, but still a nice place to watch the snow fall while sipping a beer.

Quality was top notch. Lots of great Belgians, and a handful of tasty micros. I think there were at least 40 taps. Would have liked to have seen a few more local micros, but no complaints with a draft Belgian list like they have.

Service was great. Our server was very prompt, super friendly, and very easy to chat with. She even called and cab for us, and watched outside for him.

Food was tasty, I had a bowl of soup that filled and warmed me up quite nicely.

Prices were quite fair, especially with the 1/2 price Belgian Happy Hour!

A: The atmosphere is alright for such a top notch beer place. There is an upstairs for the crowded evenings, but I have only been downstairs. The bar is in the back, along with the 7 or so coolers stocked with beer!

The place has a nice pub-like atmosphere w/ a nice design and a cool deck. The bar is comfortable and spacious yet intimate w/ tables. the parking is ample and the coolers on display as you walk in w/ the line of taps and chalkboard w/ easy view of selection is convenient. They have great Belgian ale themed mirrors and the up-coming beers option is a nice touch.

The food is very good, I recommend eating at Sharp Edge. I had the Buffalo burger which is cooked w/ Celebrator Doppelbock marinade and the frites w/ sauce complement it well. The food is fresh and the temperature fit the burger well @ medium and the veggies - tomato, red onion were very ripe and fresh.

The service is friendly, polite w/ a can do attitude. The beer and food were presented well w/ a quick turnaround and the spotted glass my friend got was returned clean in a flash. Very welcome feelings were received and just accomodating all around.

The selection is very good w/ plenty of Craft American and Belgian Drafts to choose from. They have a couple hundred bottles from Belgium and across the U.S.- Racer 5, Breckenridge, Tommyknocker, Eisenbahn on draft w/ a world wide selection. The prices are steep for some menu items - Stone Vertical Epic 2003 -95.00, but what the market will bear, right? The added tax in the area seems to make your selection more expensive than it should be also w/ 10% on top in tax just on alcohol, so it can be an expensive taste/meal depending on what you order.

The quality of service, food, beer and overall value at Sharp edge is great, the commitment to excellence is reflected in the preparation and selection of food and beer. The presentation of the Belgian ale in the brewery glassware is a great touch and shows they respect beer.

The cask ale and pro am offerings is just another step up from the norm w/ excellent beer bar options. I like the mystery draft and specials that make ordering beer you may not have tried interesting.

This is an outstanding place. The bartender was very knowledgable on every beer in the place. They always poured the ales in an ale glass, the belgians in a tulip..etc. Tremendous selection. I did not eat there. The outside looks like a german hut and is really cool looking. There is no smoking, which is fine with me also. Selections include, almost every belgian beer you can think of. Plus, Troegs, Victory, Bell's. Stone, Great Lakes, Ayinger, Brooklyn, Allagash, Clipper City, Dogfishead, Goose Island..etc...The only drawback may be, that it is kinda a place for guys. There were females there, but probably a place you'd want to bring your buddies and not your date, that being said, this is a great place.
