Referred by Guinessdoc to this establishment. As noted, it used to be a family style restaurant known as Spanky's. It is not smoke free.

Food is decent for Lexington, but mostly pre-made stuff.

Beer selection is unique for this southwestern Virginia town. Great selection of DFH, Goose Island, Brooklyn, Stella, and the usual varieties of the big 3 (AB, Coors, Miller).

If you are from this area, you know that the prices is cheap for mostly everything. Pints are less than $4 each and bottles of the big 3 are even cheaper.

If you are hungry, I suggest to go to Salerno's the Italian Sub shop across the street. But do not order the whole sub (it is at least 18 inches long).

First off, I didn't like Lexington very much. There was nothing to do there at night. There are two bars (this being one of them) and they both close as 12:00 and 1:00. That being said, I really enjoyed Malones. For a town like Lexington to have this in it I was supprised to say the least. On draft there were only four macros, 11 crafts and 6 imports. The drafts came in pints and 23 ounze glasses. The bottles were 7 macros, 1 n/a, 2 imports and only one craft. The food left much to be desided however. The best part of this place was that it was dirt cheep. The waitstaft was pretty knowledgable, and were more than happy to make a recomendation. I was also told that it will be a brewpub in the near further, that tah for what its worth. This place was pretty damn cool.

Malone's is located in what used to be Spanky's. Luckily for us, it's a whole new establishment nowadays.
The crowd at Malone's is typical of Lexington - a blend of VMI cadets, Washington & Lee law school students, and some locals, all of which usually stay to their own groups.
But what everyone, regardless of affiliation, can enjoy is the draft selection. During my visit on 4/1/06, I found the following on tap: Magic Hat #9, Smuttynose Brown Dog, Dogfish Head 90 Min, Angler's Pale Ale, Brooklyn Pennant Ale, Allegash White, Widmer Hefe, SN Pale, Newcastle, and Stella. While this might not look all that amazing anywhere else, it's fantastic for Lexington (hence my 4 rating for selection). Of course, the BMC's were also in attendance but were easily overlooked. 12oz pints ranged from $3 to $4.50 and 23oz'ers were $4 to $6.50.
This is, by far, the best draft selection in town. So if you're in "Lex Vegas" for any reason and are looking for a decent pint, this is your place.
