I got really lucky when I booked my hotel for a long weekend in New Orleans - this place was only one block away from our Best Western in suburban Metairie.
After scouring Bourbon Street in search of good beer I was getting a bit discouraged with the Louisiana scene. With a name like "Lagers", I wasn't holding out much hope that this place would have much better to offer than the "Bayou Bocks" and "Pontchartrain Pilsners" common to the French Quarter, but I was fortunately proven very wrong. Upon entering and looking over the packed crowd (obviously BA types) and tap wall (75 I believe) I knew I'd found the best place in the area. Overall this place reminds me a lot of the Flying Saucer chain although a bit smaller than your typical Saucer. Granted, as a state Louisiana doesn't exactly have great availability, but this place seems to make the best of what they can get. I tried a couple IPAs from local brewer NOLA which were quite good. Our server was more than adequate and made excellent recommendations when I described what I was after (local hop bombs!). Did not try the food.

I travel often to the New Orleans area for work and this place is a MUST for me every time! The atmosphere, the food, the beer selection, everything about this place is awesome! If you're ever in the area look them up and go have some good grub and a nice cold beer!

Lager's has around 70 beers on tap, including offerings from Rogue, Flying Dog, Sam Adams, Lazy Magnolia, Anchor, SNPA, obviously Abita...several German beers, and also now features Stone Arrogant Bastard and the NOLA lineup, including Hopitoulas at the moment. Selection might not blow you away but clearly no other place in Metairie can match it, and ranks pretty high up for the bar selection in Louisiana as a whole.
Great atmosphere...the place must have like 20 TVs so there's never a problem getting a good view of any sporting events you may be watching here. The food is better than you expect from most bars.
Pricing is fair and they offer a happy hour and various specials throughout the week. Go sign up for their e-club on their website and they'll send you other offers throughout the year. This football season they've been doing this crazy deal where if you go there to catch the Saints game and stay through the end, however many points the Saints win by is the % off your total tab. Usually amounts to pretty great savings considering the Saints can actually win this year. I keep hopelessly going back each week trying to figure out what would happen if by some miracle they win by more than 100. Ah well.
Servers are usually friendly but I always sit at the bar, so not sure if the waiters are good with the beer as well. Never had a beer that tasted off, although sometimes they do have a habit of serving you craft beer in a frosted glass which I usually don't care for, but mostly not too big a deal. Just be sure to ask for unfrosted if it bothers you too much. Really, the worst part about this place is the parking. Other than that, Lager's is a great place to grab a pint at if you're in Metairie.

Visited this place several times recently, and I have to say everytime I went I was impressed. The atmosphere is great, every table I have sit we could see a tv screen for the football game. The service was always good, I always had a beer in my hand, but don't go expecting beer experts. The food was pretty good, enough that you don't break your wallet, but enough to sponge your gut for more beer. I have had many beers on tap, and they always come with tasting like or better than their bottled counterparts, and the prices of the beers where not bad. Overll, a great place to watch the Saints or the Hornets, but if you have to, other games are always a blast.

Visited this place recently with a friend when I made beer-run from Gulfport, MS to visit the BeerBuddha at Martins Wine Cellar. Had a very extensive selection of draft beer on the menu and even more in bottles. I think I counted seventy-six different draft selections. Had some things not typically found on draft in the area. I had an Optimator on draft that was delicious and a Philly Cheesesteak wrap that was also very tasty. Will definitely return when I come back to Metairie for my next beer-run.

I've been here numerous times just never fot around to reviewing it. Lagers is owned by the same people that own the Bulldog so their beer selection is outstanding and the food selection is great as well. Crawfish banditos are incredible. Probably about 30-40 beers on tap and 70 beer in bottles. The place gets REALLY crowded so finding a parking spot is next to impossible(I park over at the mall or after 7pm you can park at Firestone)and finding a seat can be difficult as well which is why during the spring it is nice to sit outside. The waitresses are a bit knowledgable...and some are hot which is nice. Overall a great place to drink when you are in Metairie and not near a Bulldog.

As was correctly stated at the bottom of the review list and incorrectly stated more recently, Lagers has 75 beers on tap and claims to have ~100 different bottles in the two large coolers (I've never counted the bottles).
Lot's of typical American and European beers on tap (BMC plus Amstel/Heineken/Bass/Guiness) plus a bunch of American craft beers and less common European imports. The bottle collection is similar and usually carries my favorite - Aventinus. They keep their beer collection listed on their web site (a pdf).
The quality of the draft beer here is always top notch. I've never had off tasting draft at Lager's.
The bar tenders range from decent to great. They willingly give samples of the beer they have on tap and give feedback on the draft and bottles. The wait staff usually sucks and doesn't know what I'm saying when I ask for Aventinus. One time I got "half a Guiness." If you're going there just to drink beer, I recommend trying to get a spot at the bar.
The place feels like a nice beer pub. I've got decent feedback from some Brits I brought there once. Of course, I've never been to a pub they would typically have a pint at. It feels a little more cafe style during the day if you sit at a booth or a table.
The food is typical bar food: (burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, quesadillas) plus some plate style dishes that seem to vary. The food is good enough, but I'm going there for the beer.
Prices seem on par with other such establishments. They run daily specials and have happy hour pricing.

I come here every once and a while. A good place close to home where i can enjoy a good beer at a bar.
It seems to have about 30 beers on tap. Bottled beer are around 75 (if memory serves me right. IMO the best american were a few rogues. Seems to have a balance between the styles, but a little short on the belgiums.
service is good. friendly. Pretty attentive to when i want/need another beer.
food is ok. Certainly good food, but not anything all that special around here.
Value is ehhh, i guess about average. Not pricey, but not cheap.
Overall a place to check out.
