Received in a sampler pack from my son & his Chilean wife after they took a trip to visit family in Santiago.
Pours a rich black with only the slightest brown/ruby color showing through when held up to the light. Almost opaque. Tan half inch head that slowly faded to about 1/8 inch. Delicate lacing.
Malty roasted aroma. Mouthfeel is good with light carbonation and medium thickness.
Taste spot on for a stout. Rich roasted malts, hints of licorice, dark cherry, plum. Slight sweetness but balanced nicely with a hop bite at the end that stays in the back of your mouth.
Overall, a definite winner from Kross. Can hold its own against many US or European stouts. I'd order it on tap in a US bar. Kross beers are probably your best bet when in South America.

This is the best stout that I had during the South American trip. They call themselves the Southern Brewing Company or Kross and are located pretty far south in Chile. Not sure about the claim, think there might be a place in Cape Town that might have'em beat. Pours dark black with a faint wisp of darkened malts and coffee. Flavor is more of the same with enough body to keep the brew honest. Good mix of sweet and bitter and a weaker mouthfeel that allows for more on a warm summer day. Of the mix of small brewpubs in Chile, this one definitely gets high marks.

Appearance: Pours a coffee brown color with ruby highlights; capped with an ecru head that leaves a few strands
Smell: Roasty and slightly ashy, with caramel and coffee undertones
Taste: Roasted grains, up front, with developing caramel and coffee tones; sweet finish with a bit of a cafe con leche character
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A very light stout by the standards we are used to in the US, but it has some nice flavor and I particularly enjoyed the finish

Deepest black color with a thin caramel head, but leaving laces.
Predominant aroma of coffee and caramels.
Likewise flavor of coffee, earthy and grassy hops, caramels, lots of licorice and roasted malts. Dry and bitter aftertaste.
Medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Decent Stout, tasty and not shallow, though a bit heavy on the malt.

This brew is 5.2% ABV and my bottle looks exactly the same apart from the two Silver Australian International Beer Awards one from 2007 & the other from 2008 in the top left of the label anyways it pours a dark cola hue with a fast vanishing two finger head and sporadic lacing, the aroma is fresh chocolate icecream and vanilla expresso,it has an average mouthfeel with tastes of fresh chocolate icecream, vanilla expresso, macadamia and it finishes with a light bitter mouthfeel, overall a nice brew that is just lacking that full mouthfeel of a Stout in my mind but in saying that its very sessionable and ill definately buy this again.

This pours a dark black colour with no head. A touch disappointing.
Sweet, caramelly aroma with a touch of chocolate. Not good.
Again the flavour is sweet and malty with a distinct caramel note. There is a bit of roast here which is good but the caramel (possibly even diacetyl) covers it all up.
Medium body with moderate carbonation. Fine.
This is a disappointing beer. While there are attempts at the flavour profile of a stout it is flawed with this sweet caramel note.
