On-tap at RFD, Washington, D.C. - March 2012:
The beer appeared a nice black color with a nice, 1 finger oatmeal colored head that receded into a very thin cap. Some lacing, bit overall less impressive than some others that I have had of this style.
The aroma was toasted malt, as expected, but overall, the aroma was lighter than expected.
The taste of the beer follows the aroma, with an ever so slight hop presence noted. The beer finishes with a nice, as expected, dry finish.
The beer had a lighter feel to it, which is typical for the style. The beer was very easy to drink and had low carbonation. Overall, not a bad attempt at the style, but I would still prefer a Beamish or even a Murphy's.
