Dark Starr Stout has won more national and international awards than any other Dry Irish Stout in the country. Brewed with roasted barley, and with hints of coffee and dark chocolate, it packs a robust taste into a surprisingly light body. This signature brew pours like velvet and drinks like a slice of grandma’s pumpernickel bread.

Black body with ruby highlights, topped by a generous four fingers of slightly dark tan froth which looks like a mountain range. Excellent lacing.
Good coffee nose, hints of chocolate and milk. Guess that makes the whole thing mocha. Just wish it was a bit more assertive.
Taste features nice roasted coffee notes, bits of chocolate, and an earthy hop signature at the swallow.
Smooth medium mouthfeel. Excellent drinkability, definitely sessionable.
Good example of an Irish Dry Stout. Saving the remaining bottles for St. Patrick's Day.

Poured hard from a can into a snifter glass forming a few fingers of foamy tan head that eventually faded to nothing. Deep cola brown color. Smell is roasted barley, taste matches exactly. Light bodied with light carbonation after the hard pour. Fine for a dry stout if you like that.

A can poured into a pint glass. Pour has a dense light brown foam head sitting atop a dark brown body. Scent has a variety of darker malt sensations: cocoa nibs, char, coffee. Taste matches exceptionally well -- having that classic dry Irish stout lightness but a rich and complex combination of dark chocolate, char, and coffee all leaving an enjoyably bitter aftertaste. Feel is surprisingly (but pleasantly) smooth and light with a lingering bitterness. Overall a fun and enjoyable offering -- especially at this time of the year.
