Poured lighter than your normal vienna lager, more of medium golden with a slight tinger of burnt orange,a nice almost creamy-like head atop that never completely settled.Wow the aromas a very metallic and iron-like, honestly I dont think I have had a beer come close to that before. To go along with the iron quality there is a pleasant floral hop not and a bit of caramel.Flavors are as crisp as a cracker and quite dry with just a hint of sweet dough,a honest to goodness peppery hop snap in the finish. This could be drank all day,the aromas are one sided but the beer is quite good,I love a good vienna lager.

12oz. bottle poured into a Bells tulip glass. Bottle dated best before December.

It pours a hazy golden amber with a minimal head that died quickly leaving no lacing around the sides. The beer looks dead in the glass with no bubbles rising, unusual for a lager.

The smell is pretty clean with a little bit of caramel and nuttiness. It also finishes a touch sweet.

The taste is rather bland for a supposed fuller bodied amber lager. I'm getting touch of caramel in the taste but it finishes with that distinct light bodied insane dryness and crispness remmoisant of a BMC type beer. I'm wanting some more flavor in the lager.

Carbonation is spot on despite the deadness in the glass. Mouthfeel seems full bodied but so disapointing in that finish. Although I'm not a huge fan of this amber lager it still drinks really well and refreshing the way it should be.

Twelve ounce bottle pours a clear, golden amber body with a medium sized, offwhite head that has a creamy appearance and good longevity. Lots of patchy lace sticks to the glass.

Aroma is bready malt and floral and spicy noble hops.

Light medium body with solid carbonation.

Taste has a floral hop bitterness that balances well with the sweet breadiness of the malt. Hops have a spicy undertone. Malt also adds a soft biscuity graininess. Finishes clean and even.

Very drinkable. Nicely constructed, with no glaring flaws. A fine lager!

A: Poured in a tulip glass, slight amberish color. Minor lacing on the glass

S: Not impressed with this one at all! Kinda has a malt liquor smell to tell you the truth.

T: Caramel upfront, then a honey like substance on the finish. I think it's more honey to me than anything, and that's not a bad thing. It's sorta like drinking malt liquor but with a honey taste

MF: Nothing to speak of here, sorta thick and doesn't coat your tongue with anything to enjoy.

O: I would buy this over any macro lager any day, that being said.. I'm disappointed with this beer a lot. I paid like 15 dollars for a 12 pack and didn't get an enjoyable experience from it. This is one of the local brewery's in Va near me and I was hoping for better.

Pours a clear copper color with a decent cream-colored head. Some lacing.

Smells like bready malt and not much else, but the aroma is pleasant. The malt is the nose carries through to the taste as well, plus some subtle grassy qualities. This brew is very refreshing and has a crisp finish.

It is light-bodied with a slippery mouthfeel; very effervescent.

This beer is solid, but definitely not the best Vienna lager I've had.

12 oz dated purchase before Dec. 2011 and served in a pint glass. Tad of sediment on bottom of bottle added mid-tasting.

Pours a nice orange-amber, dark for style, but with only a little off-white head that rather quickly reduces to a ring.

Not much in the way of aroma, although both light/medium malt and spicy hops are evident. The flavor too seems at first unremarkable, but there is an extra bit of bitter hops in here, as well as some 'extra' malt. The body is a bit fuller than average.

O - This is not a particularly bold or interesting style, and this beer stays too close to the low expectations for a macro-brewery lager excepting the extra spicy and bitter hops. The semi-dry and relatively full mouthfeel also elevate this beer. Still, I found it not flawed, perhaps, but not good or interesting enough to recommend to anyone except fans of this style.

Poured a darker shade of, well, not quite copper but darker than usual lagers. Darker, roasted grains inside? Decent head that dissipated and it leaves some good lacing.

Aroma-bready, some nutty notes, not that familiar lager spiciness.

Mouthfeel-great tasting, good body almost ale-ish. Medium hops and this reminds me of Blue Point's rosated lager. A great tasting lager from the south, alright! Very drinkable.

Despite a very lacking "zisss" upon popping the cap, there's plenty of head and bubble action here. A creamy quarter-inch head lasts and lasts, while the color is a rusty gold shade, even has some burnt orange highlights.

Prominent bready tone to the nose, and something distinctly flowery, perhaps dandelion. Slightly buttery, even fainter caramel, with the kind of polite hops kiss that often comes with various Euro lagers. Only problem is that the aroma fades rather quickly--it's up-front right after the pour, but quelled in the following minutes.

Caramel malt provides a nice backup to the fruity tone of this lager. Odd (for the style), but there are some pear and apple characteristics on the tongue. Flowery nudge from the hops, very subtle but detectable. Light grassy pinch and more fruit tones in the finish, even slightly tart.

A little bite from the carbonation, appropriate to style and not overbearing. Even has a little stickiness to it, which keeps it from being totally dry.

Not as bready as expected, and not too sweet despite its fruity character. Something here left me wanting--maybe a breadier/maltier foundation would've improved it, but overall a pleasant enough lager.

Amber to orange, very clear beer. With a billowy white head that drops to 1 finger rapidly, leaving a scant lacing.

Aroma is spicy and sweet. Almost cinnamon, and some zesty hop in there as well.

A little lighter in flavor than I'm used to, as I tend to stick more to ales, but this has a good taste. Sweet and crisp, maybe some citric tartness. A little wheat in here as well I think. Interesting grain flavor, I'm guessing a malt I'm not used to, but I'm not quite sure. Tasty lager here, I'd like to try and pair it with some food.

More flavor here than I gave it credit for at first, and the body seemed to grow a little as I got into it. A very tasty beer, and I'd like to try more from Starr Hill.

Amber to copper clear pour, with a quickly dissipating head. Not an overly aromatic lager surprisingly. Palate gives a slight caramel and citrus taste, although a bit on the bitter side. The hop content seems to be right on with this lager, just enough, and not too much. First Starr Hill beer I've ever had. Not too bad.

12oz bottle

A- Poured into a pint glass. Pours an orangish amber color with an off-white head. It is much darker in color than the pale golden yellow I was expecting.

S- The aroma is pale grainy malts, a bit of a metallic twang and a touch of hops.

T- The aroma like the taste is some very slightly toasted grains and a hint of hops in the finish.

M- The mouthfeel is oigh bodied with a high amount of carbonation.

D- Overall, not a bad lager but nothing I would purchase again.

I don't know about the vienna lager label, I though this was a great all-malt American lager, or an American amber lager. It's a simple and delicious pairing of mild citrusy hops with clean lightly toasted barley. It seems like it could have mass appeal while still satisfying beer geeks like myself (yes, I was satisfied). Overall this is a solid lager worth checking out.
