22 ounce bottle - Barrel & Barley Craft Beer Market

Hand-written package date of 2-24-14.

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body with a smallish, brief, light tan head.

Smell: A rush of fresh-roasted coffee beans atop roasty, lightly chocolaty malts, a hint of a burnt element, with dark fruity esters throughout.

Taste: Roasted malt, chocolate and coffee dosed with a splash of milk and a spoonful of sugar. Thin sliver of char presents itself. Dark fruitiness. Coffee on the back half into the thinnish, nigh watery finish.

Mouthfeel: Falls a bit shy of medium-bodied and it's noticeable. Medium carbonation.

Overall: By no means is it the richest, heartiest coffee-dosed stout around, but, at least it's got a pleasing coffee-toned flavor and aroma.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of coffee beans are present in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste is dominated by coffee flavors and also has some hints of chocolate and roasted malts.
M: It feels a bit shy of medium-bodied and creamy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. It seems a little thin compared to other beers in the style.
O: This is a really nice beer if you like coffee. I found it to be very drinkable.

Enjoyed this in a 20 oz stange glass at the Capital Ale House in Richmond, VA
A - Black, 1" of deep tan foamy head that settled to about 1/2" and remained for the duration
S - Coffee, coffee, coffee; one of the better pure coffee aromas I've come across; distant malt
T - Just as solid of a sweet coffee taste as you can get; some hints of nut and malt, but the coffee is clearly dominant and the taste is good enough to disregard any loss of complexity; very very slght bitter finish that does not linger
F - Good body, not thin, slght /light carbonation release
O -I would definitely go back to this; just a good solid sweet coffe taste that I enjoyed, not burnt, no over-roasted taste; but if your looking for a complex stout, this isn't it, just drink and enjoy more than 1 becasuse the 5.6% ABV wont knock you over
